Quick question, does this have an internal mPCIe slot? I'd love to get one if it does, and put an eGPU in it. :)

Screen is fine for me. There are a few common complaints.

    Viewing angle
The vast majority of notebooks now have TN screens, so the V131 isn't alone. Just adjust the angle of the screen and you'll be fine.

    Dimness
Apparently the measured max brightness of the screen is pretty low. I don't really care, because ever since my first notebook computer almost a decade ago, I've run my screens really dim to conserve battery life. Heck I even run my monitors at home at lower brightness. If you're the type that always runs your displays at maximum brightness, then it might bother you.

    Color gamut/accuracy
I'm not a graphics artist or anything like that, so unless the colors are grotesquely wrong in my pr0n, I don't notice. :p

My v131 came with the Centrino N 1030 wireless card installed. Since I have now purchased a dual band (2.4GHz and 5GHz) N router, I'd like to upgrade the card to a Centrino N 6230 card. Does anyone know if the correct number of antenna connections for the 6230 are already in place? The v131 was configurable w/ the 6230 card at one point but all I see on the current configurations is a default (and only) to the 1030 card. Thx!

I haven't used any clicky laptop keyboard before, but in comparison to say a MacBook Pro, the V131's keys are a LOT quieter, softer, and easier on the hands when typing fast. However, despite the softness, there is a nice, subtle bounce from the keyboard that feels so good (<~ that sounds so wrong), so there is no mushy feeling.

Overall, the keyboard is just plain comfortable. Every day, I type away all day long at school, and it feels great on the V131. My 2c, hope it helps :)

    Dell Vostro V131 Owner's Manual
Page 31, though you have to remove a few other things first to access it.

If the pictures are correct, it only has two antenna wires, and not three.

I've been shopping on the Dell Outlet site and I managed to pick up an i3-2330m
setup for $325 after 20% off coupon.

But I notice their descriptions are all over the charts.. One will say includes DVD+ Drive, and one will say Does not Included DVD Drive.

But one of my concern is, do all these laptops come with a webcam? I ask because I ordered an i3 version and it has in it's parts description a line item that says webcam2.0mp, and on my i5 order, it doesn't have that line item.

By the way, PM if you want the coupon code, expires 1/17/12

I wonder if your laptop comes with Ubuntu. I too checked Dell's website, and I found an i3-2330m for 349 after coupon, however it says "64 Bit OS" instead of "Windows 7."

I'm almost 100% sure that they all come with the webcam. I did some reading and it said that all US models had the backlit keyboard too as well as the fingerprint scanner.

As for the DVD... no they don't have one built in... but maybe the ones that had that option include a usb powered dell drive? For reference, here is the one I ordered this morning before school... I thought I got a pretty good deal considering it had more ram than the normal 2gb...

I am upgrading from a pentium version v130 and the backlit keyboard and the extra battery life made it a no brainer for me.

I lucked out probably picking up the last ones for $399.00. I really hope it is true about the backlit keyboard and fingerprint reader. The part description on the $399 order shows that it's a non backlit keyboard part #, whereas my i5-2430 order had the part # for backlit keyboard.

As for the Wifi Card, a lot of people are complaining about the connectivity. I'm probably going to replace mine if it does in fact give me issues. And with the options for WiMax, Bluetooth, Wifi, 3G/4G, I'm not even sure which is which anymore.

There's the 1030 Centrino wifi card (does it have bluetooth?)
Then there's the Dell 1702 with 3.0 BT

So does it have bluetooth or not? Couldn't tell ya! :)
