Im planning to buy a Dell Vostro V131 online. I may even buy from a store on ebay. Anybody have any experience from buying or selling laptops on ebay?

It's generally safe as long as you follow normal guidelines by buying from sellers with 100% positive feedback, buy only brand new sealed units (read description carefully), and communicate with seller that you want the warranty transferred to you upon sale. This is done via the Dell website and ensures that when you have a problem, the unit is registered in your name and not the seller in some other state!

Typically, though, you can probably get just as good a deal as the sellers on ebay, if you just look around and wait for a great deal direct from Dell (check Logicbuy, Techbargains, etc.). The ebay sellers use the same deals, and then mark up to make a profit and pay for ebay and paypal fees, so realistically, you can get a better deal if you aren't in a hurry, buying direct from Dell. You also don't have warranty issues when you buy direct.

    Good luck!

what is discover? how do you use it? is it instant rebate? why is it so popular?
it is less than 8%? why not use the 8% rebate.. is there a catch?

"Shop Discover" is Discover Card's online shopping portal. Yes, less than 8%, but it automatically gets added to my Discover Card cashback and anyone with a Discover Card is automatically enrolled in it. Dammit, between these Dell notebooks and the Samsung Series 3 I just got, would have been around $85 cashback.

Thanks. I cannot buy from Dell Direct because I live in an indirect country. It seems Guam, an United States territory, is an indirect country from what the sales contact for Guam said. I need to order from an authorized partner of Dell, and they will markup the original price of the Vostro V131, and charge for labour and shipping. I am SOL, when it comes to buying from Dell. Ebay is my best next choice to buying from Service forwarding people, whom I have no experince with before.

Guys looking for 13,3 inch laptop. Still haven't decided between 3350 or v131(i5+Intel® HD 3000).
v131 is really thin, but does it has a sata3 and how is the heat? I know that 3350 has sata3 and its display is better. Also v131 underside is all with metal, not plastic.
And does all vostro (3350,3450,v131) comes with single chanel ram?

    NOT AGAIN!
So yeah, I did flash up to the new version--A03.
It didn't seem major, as nothing changed, and the GUI flash utility only showed changes being made to the Main BIOS, the "BB", and the "EC" if that's significant info.

Edit: One change though, when you change screens the change is now immediate, where before it would slowly wipe down across the screen. (Only I would notice that LOL--OCD)
