Anything I can compare with the 960m is great, so Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider benchmarks would be perfect. Thank you very much for sharing your information with us!

By the way, is the SSD the same as in the XPS (PM951)?

Very true. The M1000M has 512 stream processors while the 960M has 640. The 960M will always be better for gaming, but the M1000M is still capable of gaming. The M1000M gives you more options if you run the software it was designed to work with. The M1000M also consumes less power which may translate into faster CPU options or performance on the Precision.

I am just thankful that my Dell Rep let me borrow a pre-production system :)

The main reason I'm considering the Precision 5510 is for the better CPU options (Xeon/6820HQ), because the extra computing power would actually be useful for me. It would seem more future proof, especially since I could probably use an external graphics card via thunderbolt in the future (?), whereas the processor can't be upgraded.

I'm not sure why the XPS is limited to 6700HQ though, given that it has the same price as the 6820HQ. (and I'm guessing the build is the same, so throttling shouldn't be worse; is it purely for marketing reasons?)
I think I have my answer now.

What do you intend to use that stresses the processor?

How tied to the 5510/XPS 15 form factor are you? The 7000 series might give you more options. They are supposed to be smaller than the current models.

I would definitely want one of the two, portability is important for me and I cannot resist the InfinityEdge display.

I can also confirm a probable October release, from the following Dell UK chat that happened today:
