It is because the 5510 has 2 memory slots and the 7510 has 4. Currently only 8gb ddr4 sodimms are available. 16gb dimms should be available 2016.

16 GB modules are available now (example). You can already configure the 7510 with 64 GB of memory (4x16 GB).

BUT no ECC-ones available (that I know of), hence the limitation for the Xeons.

Yes the 5510 is upgradeable to 32GB of memory. We will offer 32GB soon but if you can't want and are ok with upgrading yourself than go for it. :)

@Mano_G: I am looking for a 5510 with an M2.PCIe 512 GB drive. The choices offered for US and EU currently are:
    • US: 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive
    • Europe: M.2 PCIe 512GB SSD
Do you know whether the European M2 drive is also NVMe?

Furthermore, for the 7510 there is a choice between an
    • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive
    • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe High Performance Solid State Drive
Can you explain the difference between High Performance and not high performance here? Will a high performance M2 drive become available for the 5510 in Europe in the near future?

    Best regards, Jos

Yes they are both NVMe drives.
I have already briefly explained the differences between the two in a previous post. :)

I know you explained the difference, but I was hoping on some more details about what the SSD Classes actually mean :). But thanks for answering my question, about the M2.PCIe drives, good news to hear that they are NVMe drives.

Although slightly off topic, NVMe offers only slight improvement in performance so shown in preliminary benchmarks. I'm sure current apps do not take full advantage of the technology and it's really more geared toward server workloads.

With that said, it's good to know that Dell is incorporating bleeding edge technology in their latest offering.

8 Hours is not too shabby compared to the 4.5 to 6 hours on the m3800 with the bigger battery and the 4K screen. But I was wondering if you have tried running the same battery benchmark with the 4K panel in the FHD resolution?

The m3800 fares about the same 4.5 to 6 hours no matter which resolution you set the 4K screen at, but I heard a Dell technician mentioning that they aimed to fix that with the 5510. So that should mean that you should get an even better battery life should you set the same panel to the FHD resolution, that is if they have managed to deliver on their promise.

The moment you finally have 32 Gigs of ECC memory available on your website, you shall have a new customer in me, but not before.

Also, I heard it at Dell World that there will be an additional intel Xeon CPU and also an overclockable ram available for this model when offered. Do you mind hinting us on when will that promise come to fruition or at least if it is in the works or not?
