What is the weight running on these machines that are configured similar to yours? Can they rest in your lap for long periods of time with no issues?

    Thanks!

Could you post some more pics of the display, please?
(With a white background, some vista standard background...)

    Nyceis,

You wrote, "Intel's Matrix Storage which allows the creation of one RAID1 volume (which I will use for valuable data) and a RAID0 volume for the rest of the space - this is very nice - get the benefits of both types of RAID in one system!"

I am thinking of ordering from Dell dual 250GB and specifying the following:

    Vista Ultimate 64-bit
    RAID 1
    2 x 250GB
Custom Factory Partition, 80% Primary / 20% Secondary.
Dell Configuration, Format 2nd partition to NTFS.

    OS will be on primary.
I assume they will make all 500GB RAID 1.
I assume the 20% of each HD will be available for me to configure as RAID 0, a total of 100GB. Since the secondary will have nothing on it I should(?) be able to configure both secondary partitions as RAID 0.

Will this work as smoothly as I hope. Meaning no reformatting of HD, no reinstall of OS, etc. ?

For the above setup I would use:
RAID 1 for OS, apps, permanent data (200GB).
RAID 0 for hibernation, virtual memory, temp files (Adobe video editing), etc., (100GB).

    Thanks.

PS. There has been a fair bit of confusion on being able to use both RAID 1 AND RAID 0 for the internal HD's in the M6400.

How are your 3 M6400's. Couple of M6400 owners are having problems.

Just so you know, you do not have to order both drives from Dell to be able to connect two drives. The interposer hardware is stored in cutout sections of a little foam brick that is placed in your secondary drive bay if you configured with only one drive.

Well, the other Covet owners will probably hate me for this, but I think it's a bit girly. It's more of a "christmas wrapping paper red" than an orange. I wish they had leaned a bit further yellow. But I like it.

It's the screen I don't like... I'm about to post in the M6400 Reviews thread with pictures of my screen. Don't believe the sales team, it's very glossy and if you are a photoshop maestro you will hate it. (I believe it's a matte screen underneath a glass plate. )

Did he just say red was more girly than yellow?

Sports cars are red. Hair ribbons are yellow. Blood is red. Pee is yellow. Tool boxes are red. Sunflowers are yellow. And on and on....

Just kidding. Actually, I am kind of glad it's more red though. Orange can be a trendy color, while red is always awesome.

:D I give you that, sir, but this is not sports car red. And I was thinking they should lean -towards- yellow, i.e. inject some yellow and make it fiery orange-red instead of strawberry shortcake red... My dad had a car that color and it was HOT. (Don't you think? Fire orange Covet? )

Totally. Like more #FF7700, and less #CC5500.
