    Nice!

I'm thinking of identical config but concerned about heat and fan noise (sensitive hearing). Let us know your impressions.

Apparently the E2E RGB LED display is a truelife display, which means it is glossy. I can't stand glossy but then there are different levels of 'glossy'. Any comments on how reflective the E2E RGB LED will be?

Is the RGB LED display matte?

Do we know for sure that it's glossy (the E2E RGB LED) or are we just assuming it is? I couldn't find any spec saying it's truelife but I remember reading about it somewhere here.

I love my dell precision m70 even though it's a tad old.

I'll probably replace it soon with a newer precision laptop;)

"Intel will update its current Centrino 2 "Montevina" platform this spring with new chipsets and two new processors. April will see the launch of the GM47 chipset for high-end notebooks. July/August will see the launch of the next-generation Capella platform, which will use the GM55 chipset.

The two new processors launching with the Centrino 2 refresh are the Core 2 Duo T9900 and the P8800. Intel will introduce several new processors for the Montevina platform before the end of this year, including the Core 2 Quad Q9600, and Core 2 Duo T9800."

Will any of these new high end CPU's be using less power than the current high end CPU's?

New M6400 owners, any heat and fan noise comments?
    Battery life?
Glossy vs matte screens on the M6400, comments?

I'm considering Q9100, 8GB, FX3700M, 7200 HD, e2e RGB LCD, but not sure about heat, fan noise, battery life.
If e2e RGB is too glossy, then I'll go with RGB LCD (matte).

It will be interesting to see how well the FX3700M power saver works when doing non intensive work. Battery life?

Anyone seeing 2/4GB turbo memory as an option in the user manual? Thanks!

HP glossy screens look like a mirror dipped in lubricant and require sunglasses ...

Ok my dell m6400 arrived today and wow the build of the laptop is very solid!
    My system config is:
    QX9300
    Nvidia Fx3700
    8GB RAM
250GB (my second hard drive will be soming soon..so i will be able to configure it to a RAID 0)

vista score is 5.4 (due to the 1 7200rpm hard drive thats in the notebook at the moment)

Going back to the build, Dell really tried in making this notebook and its components very accessible. You can easily install new hardware or remove things just as long as you read the manual.
Be careful though when you try to remove the bay covering the RAMs located at the bottom because there is a large hole that if care is not taking, you might end up droping a screw in it...(happened today...and it wasnt easy getting out)

The plastic mesh for the speakers and LED indication lights are a bit delicate when handling because u need to remove it and the keyboard in order to access the other front side that stores 2 DIMM slots for RAM.

i will run 3dmarks06 once i get my second hard drive installed.

Regarding display; i got the 1920x1200 CCFL and its definitely Matte...my first impression...it is bright clear especially in that resolution...colours are represented quite well but until i use it to do some web work i will still reframe from giving my overall thoughts

    adapter: IT IS HUGEEEE!!!!
Honestly, when i was unboxing and took a glimpse of the charger...i actually thought it was a netbook...maybe DELL decide to give out free gifts for the 1st buyers(i wish:D )...its too big to carry about especially since i commute long distances everyday

fan noise: Its really quiet. I cant even hear the fans at work but I havent put it through heavy use just yet. Although thats going to change right from tomorrow...I have so much work piled up since i avent had any pc for the last 2weeks...so i will see how it holds up to Adobe programs running simultaneously.
