The IPS RGB (best screen option) on the M6700 is hands down the best feature and primary reason I bought the Precision (also the larger 17" screen). Heck, I'd take a 19" screen if they made one (this is a desktop replacement after all). But seriously, without an IPS screen there's NO chance I will buy another one. I build web sites and having excellent and perfect color is mandatory for me in any monitor. If I'm on my laptop I must have the screen be as good as my Dell 27" IPS screen.

Dell PLEASE for the love of god bring back the IPS quality screen option. Even if few people get the option the few that do must have it and appreciate it. We're also probably your primary target (professionals). I'm not getting the M6800 because of the screen but hope the M6900 brings it back. (I'd pay an extra $500 for a 19"+ screen, and give you a kiss).

It is the same, with the same panel and QC problem.

HP has released new workstation, but only AMD has updated W6170M, nvidia using the old K5100m. Usually dell and lenovo will release new workstation about the same time, lets see what dell can offer. I just hope nvidia will have new mobile card after 980 launch next week.

Maybe Dell will offer new Precision models when Broadwell CPU is available.

Yes, I hope so. Still it would be nice if they did an interview with someone about what they see the future of the Precision Line to be, and when we could expect a new one.

Waiting for Broadwell would make a lot of sense.

    I agree,
I don't think they will design a new system until broadwell is fully released, so this time 2015ish?
I am thinking about upgrading the graphics cards... 980m or workstation equivalent, 2 generations since the 780m not sure if it will work or not, but that would do well.

As was mentioned in this thread, there is a lot of new tech that would be nice to integrate into the systems, but that might take more time.

    1) more freedom in bios
    2) 4k ips
    2) new slim chassis with better access to gpu.

    1) Compared to most other laptops, this is one of the most configurable UEFI/BIOS that I have seen. More freedom is always good, but the ability to change/modify multipliers is about the only thing I can think of that would be nice to be added.
    2) Idk if 4k is realistic yet, but I do think the screen is something they have to do something about. It's what people look at most, and when the screen on this computer is being beat by a wide margin on laptops half the price or less, it's time to change. I just hope they can find someone that is willing and able to make something decent in a 17" size. I'd even be happy if they offered a 1080p screen that was nicer than the one currently offered, but that's just because I would then hope I could put it in my m6800.
    3) Those two seem to be mutually exclusive, and I would hate to see them compromise on the repair-ability of the laptop for the sake of thinness, or compromise expansion in any way to achieve it, but thinner and lighter is always better.
