So ... my cat knocked over a Diet Coke all over my M6600. I unhooked the battery and let it dry for a couple of days. I haven't tried powering it up yet - I've been a little afraid to try. Any tips for bringing it back online?

It will either work, or it won't... You could take out the keyboard and bottom cover, stand it up sideways, and run a box fan next to it to make sure everything inside is dry... Hopefully the keyboard took the worst of it :p

Yeah, it'll be a roll of the dice. I just want to make sure there's no danger of electrocuting myself. Maybe I'll get the cat to turn it on. Here kitty!

    hi everybody
my m8900 die and i'm searching for a good replacment.
I read some dissenting opinions ... i would like to put the k4000m but i did not understand if the bios creates compatibility issues!

K4000M will not work. You cannot use any NVIDIA GPU newer than the ones that originally shipped with that model. Newer AMD GPUs do work, except for the very newest ones that require eDP.

Well, my m6600 survived the Diet Coke deluge. Guess I owe the Dell engineering team a beer or two.

@Aaron44126 You wouldn't happen to have a list of compatible AMD GPU's, would you? I've been curious about the upgrade possibilities for a while.

Hi dmgzd. Thanks for letting us know that R9 M290X from dell will work on your machine. Is it the same card (link: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Dell-Alienwa...952305?hash=item25b24983f1:g:wmcAAOSwv-NWXkMr) that you used on your machine? thanks!

    Hello.
I have the Precision M6600, in the following configuration:
    - Motherboard 04YY4M, bios A16
    - i5 - 2520m. Interested in upgrading to i7 2 ... 0qm. You can install any 4-core processor (for example, i7- 2670qm ....), or only one that is officially supported on the Dell website?
    - M8900, I would also like to replace the bolts Lutshe ... As I see from the last posts, ATI HD8970m works. I would like to know from the owners of this video card, were there any additional modifications required to run this video card? Or was it enough to get hold of the old one and install a new one?
    - As far as I understand, the history with NVIDIA graphics cards has not changed. The maximum video card for this notebook, from this manufacturer is the NVIDIA Quadro 5010M. Or maybe there are more options?
