Its same as 770m. Or double m8900. I got mine as replacement for dead m8900 and its been great. Or if your budget lets you get 680m and dont forget to buy nvidia x bracket as amd wont fit onto any nvidia card.

I was having an issue that sounds very similar. The Intel HD Graphics Driver fixed it for me. I'm using the driver from the M6800, Video_Driver_W74GJ_WN_9.17.10.3517_A15 without any issues. Backlight adjustments work and there are no issues with display profiles dropping.

    Hi,

I have problem with my dell. I have Windows 7 Pro x64. Intel 2929XM, AMD 8900m, 8GB RAM, and Seagate XT 500GB 1.st generation. I have original adapter Dell 240W (slim edition) and i do not have battery. My Dell is without battery, LCD, Wifi.. It is only chassis with MB and ect..

I have a few problems like BSOD errror code 0x00000124 and 0x00000101.

Next is RSOD with freezing or restarting system.

Next is only freeze and i must shutdown NTB and start.

A last point is only random restart.

I first install Windows 7 x64 and i have ramdom freeze, restart and BSOD.

I flashed bios to A15. reinstall drivers.

    Everything was same.

After that i install Windows 8.1 Pro

When i play World of Warcraft it was do samething.

I flash vBios and reinstall Catalyst and driver for 8900m and M6900 series for MS, but i still had RSOD.

    I reinstall to Windows 7 Pro x64.

Install only drivers and directx i play first 4-5 hours i was ok but BSOD cames error 0x0000124.

I reflash vBios and reinstall chipset driver for lastest from dell. I tested chipet from Intel but it was same.

In BIOS a tested every settings. From Enable SpeedStep, Turboboost. to Disable SpeedStep, Turboboost. When i was test this thing a reinstaling ACPI driver. But I got BSOD 0x00000123 or onetimes 0x0000101.

Big point is when i enable speedstep procesor goes to 800MHz but not hight. When i disable SS, then cpu goes to 2,5Ghz. I remove dell SW for display, battery and Power Manager. Processor was on 2,5GHz but i still got BSOD.

I play World of Warcraft and it is randomly sometimes i play 3 hours and nothing and sometimes i play 10 minutes and i have freeze or BSOD.

I cleaned fans and used new thermal past. Run Memetest86 for 3cycles, Intel Burn Test for 10 hours, and GPU stress test for 3 hours with Intel Burnt Test or without.

Dell test in bios it was ok. Only battery not pass. (I do not have battery).

Please help me i tested everything as i can.

BSOD usually is software side, I would try different graphic driver first.

Hi, I need some advice, I have a m6600 with the touchscreen\stylus feature, I recently dropped the laptop and cracked the screen above the LCD. Everything works properly and the LCD display works fine, but I'm not sure what to do with the computer. I asked for a quote on the LCD replacement part, and I was told ~$880 which is too much. I've been thinking about buying another m6600 or m4600, but wondering if there is something I can do to fix this problem without spending a lot of money. I thought about buying a normal m6600 LCD, but my screen casing is extra thick because of the ntrig so I'm not sure how that would work... really would love to know if there is some cheap DIY solution.

I have a feeling you can just remove the glass/plastic part and viola~ If you can take some photos, then we can look closer. Personally I never saw a touchscreen so just guesses.

If you don't need touchscreen no more then buy the part to assemble yourself. You can find the parts from ebay or parts-people.
    back/hinge/bracket +bezel ~30-40
    fhd screen ~60-70
    cable 10-20

You can get better price if you look/hunt around.

I wish I had read this thread a few days ago. I recently bought a used M6600, and purchased one with the ATI M8900 based on the higher gaming benchmarks. They seemed much better than the Quadro 3000M. However it seems that the M8900 is prone to premature failure. How many of you have actually had an M8900 fail?

Also, I had to buy one without a power adapter. Based on my research it seems that my 210w M6400 PSU has the same connector, but it's unclear to me whether the 30w deficit (standard M6600 PSU is 240w, right?) will make a difference. Can anyone tell me if my old PSU will work properly?

If you don't get a prompt in start-up and no throttling then it should be perfectly fine.

Trying to increase rendering speed for my Avid Media Composer video editing on my M6600 that has been sluggish lately (upgraded to MC6.5). I have dual core 2.8GHz Intel i7-2640M in my 64-bit Win7 M6600 and based on comments here, thinking about upgrading to Intel 2.7GHz quad core i7-2960XM. Also looking at moving from Seagate 7200rpm HDD's to maybe Kingston, Crucial or SanDisc 960GB SSD's to improve read/write speeds significantly above the 90MB/s of the Seagates. I see a lot of folks here like the Crucials. What should I consider...in selecting the SSD model that will fit....and necessary accessories/kit to install in the M6600?

What does it mean when the SSD vendor asks if I have 2 sockets or 4 sockets on the M6600? Is that processor sockets...RAM slots...software sockets? There appear to be two socket versions of the M6600 and I can't figure out what vendors mean by 2 or 4 sockets. Also...I have 2x4GB of RAM DIMM's...wondering if I upgrade the processor to the 2960XM if that means I could utilize additional RAM...or if adding that would not contribute. I have two empty slots...could add two mor 4GB sticks...change to two 8's, etc. I note some folks here observe extra RAM above 8GB is often of limited or no benefit...and I'm not familiar enough with what the determining factors are. Thanks for any suggestions/observations.
