I started to have this issue after mbo replacement. (old one had 1 defective ram slot). Went trou 1 more mbo replacement and the 3rd mbo together with sound stuttering would not power off unless power was unplugged and battery was taken out. Now im waiting for a complete system replacement.

You could try various troubleshooting steps that help with dpc latency issues. God knows i tryed most of them to no avail.

Hi, would Kingston HyperX Impact DDR3 2133MHz PC3-17000 work? I know i cant suspect 2133Mhz but, there is a great deal. Where tis version is cheaper than 1600MHz.

I have "pretty much, lol" concluded that this Beast will be my final personal laptop.

What is the best Graphic Processing Unit this thing will fully utilize?

I game some, but not that much. Mainly for several heavy CAD applications and rendering, VMs, and video editing, It needs high Cuda Cores, right?

What do my fellow and gal Precision M6600 owners know for sure that will work? it has the Nvidia 3100 stock right now. I would like at least a 4gb DDR5 chip, if not better. Are they even available?

    Thanks,

    Flashtee

I know, but 16GB is more than sufficient for my applications. So i wouldn't be upgrading, I am interested if extra two sticks makes any difference in performance.

2 x 8, that way, you only have to install in the sockets available through the back panel, no need to pop the keyboard trim out and remove the keyboard to add RAM. It's a quick and easy upgrade versus a slightly harder one.

    Hi guys,

I managed to get this sweet laptop from work but I have this weird issue that has persisted with the laptop since I got my hands on it.

Basically when you first boot up the computer everything is slow and it seems EVERYTHING just throttles even though is plugged in and set to maximum performance (and yes I dont have the correct power adapter, BIOS has warned me but I will get to this later).

HOWEVER if I restart the computer (it has to be a restart) EVERYTHING is at FULL performance, INCLUDING gaming recent titles....heck even shadow of mordor ran at good FPS at medium settings (I upgraded to 8 gigs of ram and an SSD btw)

Sounds great and all UNTIL I do anything that messes with the laptop's power. Turn on the LED lights on the keyboard, unplug OR plug a USB device or hitting the function key by mistake. All these things just cause the laptop to throttle again and gaming of course takes the biggest hit (2-10 FPS).....Only way to fix it is to RESTART again and be wary of doing any of those things.

I know the obvious thing to suggest would be to buy the CORRECT power adapter but I just wanted the suggestion from you guys since its weird that it works fine if you RESTART and avoid messing with the things I mentioned.

Would buying it allow me to change my LED lights etc without the computer throttling (btw everything slows down not just gaming performance....even watching HD video is unbearable)

I tried updating everything to the latest (BIOS, video driver etc) from the DELL website but nothing changes the issue.

    Any help appreciated!
