Once you've used one you're ruined for life. Whenever I have to fix the non-IPS that my friend has - it becomes apparent the difference in color gamut. That one was just fine before - except for what you see on screen is not what gets printed out. Only bad for creative output.

    Edit snip -

Yes, True, and you also lose the power savings of nVidia Optimus. You have to select from those options according to your needs. They're starting to make Televisions in RGBLED too. The future looks to be colorful and more mainstream. The power of the customer :)

Tommy's is unique and there are a few more floating around here. I don't know what is specifically needed to make it work with AMD.

If i'm not mistaken, we'll see Optimus support make it's appearance with Haswell on IPS panels, i think that the IGP will have 10-bit support, if not Haswell, we can probably expect it with Broadwell.

When I built my M6600 a few months back, it let me get the IPS display with the AMD 8900 card. Then about a month later, that option was gone. It's a rare combination for sure. I am also running A12, with no problems.

If I were to upgrade to the M6700, I think I would get the Red Covet one. LOL :)

Also, I just realized that it is better to setup up and configure multiple displays using the Catalyst Control Center.

Using Windows to do it was unstable with remembering the configuration. I would un-docked and re-dock and my displays would be all out of order, the primary would be the wrong one, and sometimes the resolution was a notch below the U2410s native. Also I would undock and my M6600 screen would stay off. Using the Catalyst Control Center instead has resolved all of the issues. :)

I've use both the M4 256GB 2.5" & mSATA without issue on my m6600. I would recommend you make sure the firmware is up to date before filling it with data. I've never had an issue with the firmware update but better safe than sorry.

Well, I had my m6600 for nearly a week and I'm liking it and the IPS screen so far. The finish on the laptop isn't bad, just some minor cosmetic issues here and there, but nothing to write home about. I fixed the non-adjustable brightness issue I had, as mentioned in another thread which required quite a bit of patience (bent pin on the interposer card).

The SSD is great, but for some reason, it appears a bit slow. I ran the benchmarks and they look fairly decent, but I expected a much faster experience. The SSD is aligned, however its still the factory image. Most likely it will be faster once I put Windows 8 on it :)

I do want to upgrade my video card to at least a 580 class card (since I am selling my desktop), but I know I can put in a 680 in as well. I need to still get a m6700 dock (the m6600 will support the USB 3 correct?), and rearrange my desk layout some what. Right now its my couch potato laptop, but its honestly too big that I can't see my TV when laying down...lol

I also added a 320GB that I had laying around so I can move some stuff off the SSD. The SSD has only 98 hours on it, so thats not bad and that means that this laptop wasn't used that much originally (possibly cause of the brightness issue).

The KB has a stubborn up arrow which is annoying and I need to tell support about it so I can get another KB. Nothing is under it from what I can tell, it just has issue registering.

The cooling in this laptop is nice and I don't get any throttling on the GPU or the CPU. Maybe that will change once I put a higher-end card in, but I don't see it going up that much.

One thing I do notice, which is somewhat annoying is a high pitch noise coming from the laptop. I'm not sure where its coming from exactly, but it just annoying at times.

PS Does anyone know the color of the laptop? I would like to patch some of the blemishes.

I thought the USB 3.0 port on dock operate using the new intel chipset (come out with Ivy),so the m6600 will not get usb3.0 from the dock, that's my interpretation.

Would be great if Dell rep can chime in.

I know of this too, but I read somewhere on this forum that they tried it. I'm too tired to remember all the details at the moment, but I think worked.

    EDIT: Found it - http://forum.notebookreview.com/dell-latitude-vostro-precision/580712-m6600-owners-thread-527.html

I'm planning on getting some hard drives / an SSD and wondering what would be the better configuration.
Msata + 3 hard drives (removing the DVD drive)
Or since the MSATA is only SATA II, is it better to just do an SSD + 2 hard drives?

I'm mainly using my laptop for video editing (Premiere Pro / After Effects).
*note* I'm planning on only getting 1 SSD, whether it be a full sized SSD or an MSATA SSD.

Aww, and here i was gonna suggest dual SSDs. It really depends on your storage needs, if you need lots of storage space, go mSATA, if not go 2.5". Be sure to put the OS and programs on the SSD.

Uh, you saved me a lot of typing, Echoed.

I'll add $.02, that if you find yourself more mobile the extra storage might be valuable; if stationary the extra speed might be appreciated - swapping HDDs is pretty easy plus any external storage. The mSata owners seem to really like the storage options that come with the implementation; Look for some input from them. I've experienced only SATA 6Gbs SSD.
