Thanks for the link. I'm installing it now and will re-run WEI.

After a day with it, I also see that it runs the video card a little cooler!

That driver gave me a BSOD and will not install. I have the IPS screen with the 8900 card. Oh well, I reverted back to the other drivers. My WEI is 7.6 for the graphics, 7.5 overall for the system.

LOL... Here is my setup atm. I'm running two Dell U2410s, each with it's own speaker bar hooked up to a 3.5 mm Y splitter at the dock. It's like having stereo speakers. :)

    Nice Setup. Nice.

Thank you for sending me the link to the AMD Graphics driver.

Here's the entry in the M6600 Reimaging Thread:

Next week I'll list some previous drivers in the resources post. If there are any issues that need to be aired for a particular AMD Graphics version - let me know and they'll be noted too.

I made a small spreadsheet that puts all the parts of the BB Code into place for link formatting; all I have to do is drop the parts in. It gets rough going to Dell and grabbing by accident the Xp drivers when providing on the fly help links.

    Much appreciated :)

Please remember when speaking with tech support, that recommendations are often only an opinion or an educated guess, unless the issue is well documented with numerous cases.

In this instance, you were referred to a link with instructions; how to hide (or show) balloon notifications in Explorer and the system tray (notification area of the task bar), which is strictly personal preference. This was not a recommendation from Dell ;)

The registry entry in question, is automatically created by the Group Policy Editor when the option to - turn off all balloon notifications - is selected. See option two: Notifications - Enable or Disable Message Balloons - Windows 7 Forums

Balloon notifications can also be controlled with another registry entry: Disabling Notification ballons - Tech Support Forum, which also discusses how entries may vary between computers.

You can also select which system-tray notification icons are enabled: Notification Area Icons - Hide or Show System Icons and Notifications - Windows 7 Forums

Since I understood this was an external drive, I was trying to verify that: 1) No errors were created when the drive was disconnected. 2) The errors were catastrophic, which required reformatting rather than repair. 3) The utility was compatible with the drive.

Steve Gibson's SpinRite magnetic-drive diagnostic utility, is considered by many to be the best product available: GRC|Hard drive data recovery software
