It really depends what you want to get out of it I want to use it for Photoshop and Autodesk Sketchbook and I like it, It works great for that. In AutoCAD it works like a mouse would so it actually feels strange to use it.

You have to take what I say with a grain of salt. I'm an artist. I use a Wacom Intuos/Cintiq everyday for VFX.

That touch screen is not a tool designed for artists. The pressure sensitivity is severely limited, there are no buttons on the pen (correct me if I'm wrong) and the software is not artist friendly.

It's meant for gesturing and the kind of functionality they are trying to base Windows 8 around.

there is two buttons on the pen i have the bamboo wacom (I know low end model), but the pen and pressure sensitivity are very comparable.

i apologize for all the questions but i use cad and ps a lot and i am very interested in the interactivity of the touch screen

in fact its the only reason im not ordering a hp dreamcolor plus they dont offer 1600 ram

so does it effect the screen resolution and are you happy with the quality

and what do you mean it acts the same as a mouse can you explain that and can you draw as if it were a sheet of paper or tap and start a line and tap and end it also how does it work in 3d can you pan and rotate easily

    my bad for the qs

    i appreciate your help here

also does the 1333 ram run fast enough for you

and do you think the diff in 1600 vs 1333 is marginal and not worth it

    The Ntrig's have 256 levels of pressure sensitivity, Bamboo's 512, Intuos 1024-2048.

    256 to 512 is a huge step. 512 to 1024 is a huge step. 1024 to 2048 isn't a big deal.

I do a lot of texture painting in Mari/Mudbox and Photoshop. I can tell the difference between a bamboo and an intuos.

It all depends on what you want to use it for. I think it's silly for them to offer this on a workstation class laptop. If they put a Wacom compatibile screen on here this thing would be constantly out of stock for it's entire lifespan.

There is no reason not to get 1600, but you're not going to really notice a real world difference. There is also not a reason to pay Dell to put it in for you if this is a personal computer. You can get 16gb of 1600 for $200 (with heatspreaders).
