I got a refurbished M6600 last Friday and the LG screen flickers randomly. I see other have had this issue as well.

The search feature on this site is not that great so excuse the questions if they have already been answered.

    Questions:
    1. Seems that only the AUO screen does not have this issue but the picture quality is not as nice?

    2. What panel does the touchscreen use? Does it also have the flicker issues?

    3. Has anyone ever gotten Dell to upgrade components like non-touch to touch screen on outlet laptops for additional charge or free?

    Thanks

I got mine to 850/1100 stable, but the defective replacement could not do that though so I will say without doing any vBIOS alterations is 800/1000 for sure stable.

The vBIOS trick still works though if you want to flash your OC. However, I don't think the 6970M has a voltage regulator though, so I don't know if altering the voltage will do anything...

In my Clevo I was able to reach 900/1100 but stable only for 2-3 tests of 3dmark06 and 3dmark11 in Vantage was a crash in first test.

But now I do not remember whether it was possible to change vcore.

I think yes, because in Alien I can,t get more than 840/1120 in CrossFire.

Perhaps this is by diference in vbios from Clevo and from Dell... ? Dunno

Anybody an idea, why Thunderbird is shown as an aplication running on the Nvidia card in optimus mode (see attached picture)?

I have similar doubts sometimes; Firefox is also shown as using nVidia and even some minor apps are sometimes!

But that only happens when I have an external monitor connected to a digital output (i.e. anything other than VGA). Nevertheless it's strange, as in my Quadro driver settings all those apps are configured to use the integrated graphics...

Thunderbird (and Firefox) use hardware acceleration for their interface these days. I guess for some reason it's enough for NVIDIA to think it needs to run on the discrete GPU. If you open the advanced config manager in Thunderbird (from the options menu) and search for "gfx" you will see some keys you can disable if you want to turn it off.
