The parts used to repair pieces of your laptop is refurbished and they are known to be a hit or miss (miss on my own experiences).

    HOWEVER...

I don't know if I am lucky or not, but I HAVE been getting new, off the factory replacement M6600's.

    HOWEVER...

This last one definitely missed the factory's QC tests...

Either way I am on my old unit (the one that was suppose to be replaced) and I made a firm statement to tech support that I don't want the new one in any shape or form. I want the new one to be taken away and never for me to be ever seen again. However I am forced to wait till Monday to reach a resolution with their Tier-2 Customer Relations. So I want to see how this goes...

Most likely yours will be out of the box new from the factory and fine. My first M6600 replacement (the one I am using now) out of the box was immaculate conditioned and well built. It was just my fault of dropping it at some airport escalators really..

However, Dell service agents will always try to get you a machine that is good and immaculate for your needs and will do multiple replacements if you demand it and such (for my case that is where I am probably heading).

    Hi Star Forge,

Although I didn't experience any bad/stuck pixels on my new LG Philips LP173WF1 LCD, I DID experience this epileptic and really disturbing flashing effect.

OK, Athar, I know I'm terribly unlucky, but how is it all of those crappy LCDs make it to production? DeLL should get really angry with its LCD vendors!

Do those LCD-makers know those panels are assembled into Workstation-class computers, where people spend thousands and are intended to DO something productive?

    Hi Scott,

yes it looks exactly the same. The whole thing was a bit confusing, because on the bays itself is written "primary hdd" and "secondary hdd", but the secondary is shown as the primary in bios and the primary isn't shown at all.
However it was the same before I updated the bios from A04 to A06.

It's a pity that the onboard GPU can't power my WUXGA display. At least the system is nevertheless pretty quiet. Could try to connect it via VGA, but that won't help I think.

I was also wondering about another window in the bios where four SATA ports can be selected. But I thougt the machine has five: 2 for hdds, 1 for the optical drive, then mSATA and eSATA.

Same for A03 BIOS, not only on A06.
I cant see my 160GB Intel Postville G2 in the BIOS but that doesnt bother me.
It works and that is the only thing I wanted.

Thanks a lot ;) I didn't have those options on my outlet machine so I decide to do a fresh install :)

Thank you ;) you saved me time because I didn't know what software to install to make those options to appear now everything is working fine

you are correct for the most part but sometimes the replacement is worst than the original system could be a bad screen or something you never know any way like you said Dell is the best because if you have a problem you covered :)

That is why I am still on my old one with the AUO. The screen has no problems! However since they got me escalated to Customer Relations, I am going to try to ask for the touch screen or IPS as compensation.

I have experienced the flickering on the LG panel from another M6600 I had before as a system exchange, but since I was going to get that replaced with a properly-specced M6600 I didn't bring it up. Also, I did think it was an early production problem. However since some of you with LG's are still getting the problem, I'd suggest bringing it up with Mano_G and have him investigate it like how he ended up stopping Chi Mei distribution.

    Anyone noticed the above?

System seems to be running warmer when docked which would make sense if internal screen is still getting power.

    Llavelle,

No - I'm running my system in the same configuration, and when I enter "Projector only" mode my internal display is not glowing at all (completely dark).

No. They never implemented the ATI method. :(
