Until it acted up it worked great for me. I do some android dev and it works well with the android emulator. It also works well with photoshop pen pressure features when using the stylus.

Same here, and it would work fine for a few weeks before freaking out, then only a few days between calibrations, & then it got to the point where it would freak out every couple of hours until I couldn't get to the calibration screen as it was constantly registering touches. Dell should really add a hot key to disable the touch screen because when it goes nuts the computer becomes unusable. I could probably have booted into safe mode & disabled the hardware but I figured I would just get it repaired.

The two m6600's returned were touch screen models. First time I received the machine back the touchscreen didn't function at all. Windows could see the hardware without issue but it wouldn't register a touch. It is currently out for round 2 of repair.

    Hi Numa Langsam,

I second what you said: I confirm the flickering on the first three brightness levels, but who tells us it is not gonna get worse?

And I also agree with you: supposedly all LP173WF1 are flickering, but I'm more interested in understanding "Why they flicker".

Is it a "feature" due to XYZ and we all must live with that or is it a real panel defect and "something needs to be done"

I'm really confused, but I'm leaning more vs. the "something needs to be done", especially now that my frame doesn't feel as solid as when it was new (I know I seem anal, but I have this "refurbished" feeling after barely a month of ownership).

Well my one only flickers on the two lowest brightness levels, the third darkest level is okay on my display. The thing is, I use the machine as a desktop-replacement and so I barely use the display at all, at least right now.

Of course a non-flickering panel would be great, but I don't want to spend days and weeks without notebook. If the flickering gets worse, we have three year warranty. So it should be possible to change the display later on.

The question why the display flickers is interesting. Is is the panel itself or is it the backlight? These two components should be more or less independent. But when only the LG-panels are affected, it seems as if the panel itself is the reason for the flickering.

Maybe a bios update could solve the problem. That would be much better than replace the whole display. Is Dell informed already?

My first LG display would flicker randomly at any brightness level, but would not start to flicker until after the system had been on for 7-10 minutes. Then it would get wavey/flicker screen from time to time. When the brightness level was at lowest both the LG displays would flicker all the time. The 2nd LG panel did not seem to get the randomly flickering like the first.

So maybe all the LG panels flicker at the lowest level.

So far the AUO touchscreen does not flicker at any brightness level.

    Hi,

I am considering the M6600 and have read through most of this 205 pages long thread - which took me a while, and taught me a lot. Sp thanks for all the info.

I did read that some users here had there hands on the Clevo as well as the M6600. Could you please let me know on thoughts comparing those two?

To me the M6600 will give me WorldWide professional Warranty whereas the Clevo has the much better 580m with more Cuda Cores. I also read the UltraSharp AntiGlare Monitore of the Dell is supposed to be better then Clevo's.

What about built-quality, keyboard, performance, heat, fan noise and so forth?

Thanks for any suggestions and comments
    cheers
    Ron

    hey,

After the problems that people have had with there touch screens do you recommend that it's worth getting a model with the touch screen or should i just get a standard screen?

    Thanks

    Hello all,

at work i just received a new laptop, a dell precision m6600.
I got an annoyance with the screen on it. Whenever i move a window around, there is an interlacing effect on the border of the window. I took a picture with my webcam that shows it clearly:

the information about the monitor is:
    VCV1F€173WF1
    LGD02DA

Does anyone know what can be done about this effect? I'm quite dissapointed such a substandard screen is used in such an expensive laptop :(

You see interlacing only when moving a window around on the screen - correct? You do not see interlacing when the window is not moving - correct? Are you running Optimus graphic switching?
