And Quadro power savings won't kick in at all on that configuration, correct? Or, can the 8900 handle the IPS 10bpp?

The m8900 supports 10bits per channel.

Hello guys. I have m6600 for a week now and still struggling with LOTS of blue screens. They are all coming from WwanUsbMp64.sys (PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA). This is the driver for Del 5550 WWAN module.

I have the latest drivers and firmware (with previous WWAN firmware I kept getting BSOD every few minutes and with each shutdown).

The only difference from Dell configuration are 2 SSD disks in RAID0 (OCZ Vertex 3).

Turning off the modem completely with the hardware switch (right side) keeps my system stable. Keeping modem on - even without connection - is asking for BSOD at any time.

Has anyone had this kind of issue?

Dude, call support. You clearly have a hardware problem; you've isolated the driver responsible; so get them to at the least send you a new WWAN device.

Any blue screen is evidence of a hardware, driver, or firmware problem. In your case, you've done enough research to isolate it to the WWAN device.

Since you've only had it for a week...

    ...Whoa, that was insane!

The "Terno al Lotto" was to find an acceptable quality LCD, but for the rest, I second what Scott_RC-TEK said: excellent build quality, features and upgradeability.

...In the end, I didn't call DeLL anymore for the flickering LG display issue (I simply keep it above the first 3 backlight levels and no flickering whatsoever).

Also, the Standard 9 Cell battery and my quad-core + Optimus keep the computer silent, fresh and make it last 3+ hours for normal word editing/light browsing!

All in all, I'm really satisfied with my beast, and I can affirm this is my second best-buy in my life (my first best-buy was a 24" DeLL LCD 2405FPW).

Lucky you got it for free!

The only things I may not like so much are:
    1) the computer's brown color (I prefer the silvery M6500 more), but this is subjective and in truth is not so bad (in fact I'm starting to like it, it remembers me "Radica").
    2) The 1920x1080 16:9 res (vs the M6500 and the 2405FPW 1920x1200).
    3) The flickering LG issue (maybe someday It'll be possible to swap it for an IPS as per "the well-informed").

Good look with your M6600 ;)

Greetings guys. I have a new M6600 at work and I have some questions about the graphics card installed. It's the NVIDIA Quadro 3000M. I do mainly high end CAD and 3D modeling type work, and I was wondering if there is anything I need to change out of the box to improve the graphics performance. I've seen a lot of graphics artifacts and I'm concerned. I updated the graphics drivers but that didn't help (in fact it made some things worse; supposedly the November driver update will fix some things). I have no idea what "Optimus" is, or CUDA, or the features of the GPU or how to utilize them. Basically I'm a user and I'm not fully geeked out on the technology yet. Any insight about how to get the best performance would be much appreciated.

Also, what sort of bags are people using? I saw some recommendations earlier in the thread, but haven't had a chance to slog all the way through yet.

    Thanks.

Dell-Mano_G -- looks like you cannot configure the IPS panel with the m8900 video card. Is that on purpose for some reason?
