Actually if you read Bokeh's review, the Touchscreen is actually glossy vs. the standard screen.

Way off topic. Catching up on recorded episodes of TV. Watching the second episode of the 2011 season of The Big Bang Theory. Episode is titled "The infestation hypothesis". M6600 featured in the episode. Logo taped over, but very easy to spot. They still have the red Alienware 17 that repaced the xps 1730. Sorry. Guess this is all trivia :)

    Hi there,

Dell is going to replace my M6400 for a M6600; it comes with an i7 2620, which is probably the equivalent to the T9600 I had in the M6400. But, in the M6400 I was using the 4 memory slots (4x2Gb. 2 of the chips weren't from Dell), and now I'm reading you say all dual core processors can only handle two of the slots?
This totally confounds me as I'm actually using the 4 slots with a dual core in an older system... So are you sure this applies for all types of memory?

I would demand that Dell bump you up to at least the 2620QM so you can use more than 2 memory slots in the M6600. The limitation does exist with dual cores.

It replaced XPS 1710 not 1730. 1730m looks slightly different. I hope I'm right, but I see it's 1710 in older episodes.

So the M6600 is worse that the M6400 in this respect(!)... I wonder why... (!?)

And well, I preferred the speedier double core (2.7 vs 2.3) than the quad cause I'm not doing many tasks at once; GoodSync runs in the background, but can't think of 4 programs at the same time or one that uses the 4 processors... But if the M6600 doesn't allow me to use more memory with a double processor as it allowed me the M6400... I guess you're right Scott and I don't have another chance than the 2720QM (the 2620QM is not an option in Spain)...
