I don't. I just assumed based on a few posts like asking if Eknight was my wife.

    Getting back on topic...

I will say that based on your M6600, you will have the opportunity to help out a lot of people on this list. I only know one other person running the same config that you have. I will be looking forward to what you post.

    Once more:
Does anybody know a fan control software for the M6600?
I would like to have a little less fan noise in idle with minnimum load.
Although I use minnimum energy setting with CPU clock on 800 MHz the fan runs at about 3000rpm after a while.

Install ControlPoint. You could even do a custom install with just the power settings. Will give you a new power plan called "Quiet".

I know its not complete fan control, but it might help out.

I already use a dell power plan that is called "QUIET" reduced fan noise but that is as same as the Windows power setting. I cant recognize any difference.

Speedfan doesnt read the fan speed. :(

One last thing to try. In the newest version of ControlPoint (and likely in others) you can go into Dell Power Manager, then Enhanced Power and Performance. Click Create New Power Plan. You can now play with all of the power options under advanced settings. Might be a way to get better tweaked power scheme.

An hour before I'm about to play the Star Wars beta and my screen starts going black. Love it... I know people were having this issue before. Anyone have a cure?

Some more advice please :) ...

which hard drive configuration would you recommend

    1. 256GB SATA III SSD
    2. 128GB SSD on mini card with 750GB Traditional drive

I don't have much data as this is a work PC and most of it is stored on the server, so I had started with option 1, but I'd like some reassurance that I'm not making a mistake.

    Thanks, Ian

Thanks for that :) Dell have said they provide an LG panel, although I'm not convinced they have that control, but it'll be nice to check :)
