C'mon guys - to me it is "real life" as I'm doing it everyday for years :)

If by "real life" you mean idling - then yes, all CPUs are more or less equal.

I am lucky enough to have a few people at Dell that I talk to. I ask them questions and may or may not get an answer. They do a variety of things for the company. I have been making purchase decisions for servers, desktop, and mobile systems for 12 years now. I have gotten to know people. Since Dell has always done a great job in supporting the places I have worked, I tend to know more people from Dell.

Part of keeping friends is being careful with the information you are given. If I posted it here, it was with permission. I am not an insider with Dell. I work for a University 20 hours away from Austin. I just happen to have bought a lot of Dell gear and tend to not get all crazy about hyping problems with systems until there is a good reason.

I'm having an audio issue with my M6600 I hope someone can help me with.

Basically, when I plug in my headphones to the audio jack to listen to iTunes the sound isn't switching from the speakers to the headphones.

Under sound option I see that the audio jack is listed as "Communications Headphones" but even when I try to set that manually as the default device the sound will not switch over to the audio jack from the speakers.

Any program where I can manually select the audio hardware output device (like Skype) I can get to go to the audio jack instead of the speakers, but for programs that just use the default device (iTunes) I have no luck with.

Any ideas on how I can get the default device to change from the speakers to headphones?

I do use them (much less than Inventor/Fusion/Showcase, when speaking of Autodesk products) - but only for preparing/cleaning/simplifying my Cliets' models for Moldflow analyses... So, I do not benchmark them - sorry:)

Are people still receiving Chi Mei screens with recent orders?

My M6600 is currently in production (expecting it on the 18th October).

I wonder if I'll have to duke it out with Dell support after delivery.

Nope, got 2 M6600's delivered to Ireland about 2 weeks ago and they're both LG's. This confirms Dell's employee statement on this forum that Chi Mei's were put on hold, globally.
Though someone in Japan apparently got Chi Mei'd fairly recently (today), but it could be a separate case.
