Perhaps you want to read my answer, then you do not always have to ask the questions twice:

    Hello, Freelancer27,

My M6600 arrived on Thursday, 08 September 2011, a week earlier than Dell's sales representative promised. Standard two-three day delivery lowered cost, although I could have received on Tuesday after Labor Day holiday.

I share your reaction to the high build quality of the Precision M6600. Fan noise is much lower than I had anticipated. Back-lighted keyboard seems sturdy and does not flex for me.

My disappointment and concern center on the mediocre photo quality of the Chi Mei 173HGE (Dell HC9GK) display. JPEGs that are saturated on other computers with external monitors are anything but vibrant and natural. Connecting from the M6600 via HDMI port to an HP w2238h display, Chi Mei is not close to normal color saturation.

In your experience, does the Chi Mei display function adequately for standard office word processing and line graphics? If quality assurance people only looked at line art and fonts, my hunch is that they would say that Chi Mei was acceptable. On the other hand, I really don't look forward to "getting by" with an entry-class display on an M6600.

    Hello, bennana,

Forum rules indicate we have to post five meaningful messages prior to receiving private-message functionality.

Until I received my M6600, I had no pressing need to post messages.

Having a place where we can learn from other users' reacting to the Chi Mei display has been very beneficial.

I would appreciate your firsthand assessment of how Chi Mei's are performing for you on typical text and on photographic images.

    Thanks.

    Mano,

I'll send you a private message for the service tag when I meet the five-message forum rule.

You might pass on to Dell marketing administrators that Notebookreview discussion contributions from M6600 users was the driving factor in my purchasing an M6600 instead of a Lenovo W520 or an HP Elitebook.

Other than the Chi Mei 173 HGE display, I have no regrets.

Sorry, I did not really understand what you meant with this...
Does this mean that I put the pre-installed SSD into the slot where the other HDD will be put in an then I change in the bios the settings so that the notebook boots from that device? Will this still be SATA III speed (6Gb/s)?!

I have two (different) HDs (one from a Macbook 2007 white and the other one from the T61p- pictures attached). I tried to put one of the HDDs in the tray next to the CD drive. But I can not put it in.

Sorry, I am a bit of a noob with this. Can anyone help me?

    @ Freelancer27:

I went nuts over this issue when I first got my M6600. After all was said and done, I put the aftermarket SSD that I had purchased separately in the tray next to the CD drive, but not without a bit of trepidation, as I thought I was going to either scratch the chassis or break something on the drive. It is a very tight fit, or at least it was for me, but you should be able to do it. And yes, it is SATAIII speed. I did a clean install on the SSD and everything worked fine. I left the original disk in what I beleive is the hot-swap bay, backed it up to an external drive, and then installed 32 bit Win 7, as I also run software that requires a 32 bit system. I just boot into the bios and switch boot drives when I need to. I prefer such a method to bootloaders and the like.

    Hope that helps.

Hi Dell-Mano_G, I'm also a proud owner of a new M6600 with a Chi Mei display. Everything about it is great except for the panel. I'll contact you with my service tag when I get enough posts to be able to send PMs.
