Good news on the screen front everyone!

So today the actual Quality Manager for the Dell Precision M6600 paid me a personal visit to my home office to be able to see the Chi Mei screen issue for himself. I had my laptop hooked to a nice external monitor with duplicate display on and we compared several different scenarios between the laptop monitor and the external. He instantly recognized the hazing and blue color shift issue of the screen and agreed that it in no way, shape or form meets Dell's premium panel quality standard.

He is taking my M6600 back to the lab with him tonight so they have an in house example of the problem they can tear down and diagnose (To this point they did not have a M6600 with a Chi Mei screen themselves to evaluate and know what we have been talking about on the forum). The Quality Manager was very straightforward about the screen not meeting standards and said that as soon as the tear down and diagnosis is complete they will be taking immediate action to address the issue and make sure no more bad panels go out the door.

So a global fix should be coming. I'll pass along any updates I get.

I do have to give my sincere compliments to Dell and the Quality Manager for taking the time to fly out to Wyoming himself to see it first hand. I work in engineering and its often hard for me to get someone from a vendor on the phone for support let alone to have them fly the actual quality manager up to see me. It makes me feel good about my decision to buy the M6600. They are giving me an expedited replacement with a different brand panel. So major kudos to Dell and the M6600 team on that one!

That is great news. Hopefully now that someone at Dell actually understands what people are complaining about, this will get resolved.

I am holding off on buying an M6600 till this is resolved, so I look forward to any updates you have.

    Many thanks. :) :)

I just wanted to let everyone know that the CMI panel in question has been put on hold because of the problems that customers have posted on this forum. If others also have this panel and are experiencing the same issues please send me a private message via the forum with your service tag number so that I can have someone contact you.
    Tks

    Does this computer support TV?
Connecting a HDMI cable from my set-top box to the computer and watch tv.

Furthermore, if not the above - if connected to my pc screen, can I connect cables from my pc screen til the computer and listen there? In other words, picture on my pc screen and sound on my computer.

This is great news. Does the hold on the CMO include Europe as well? My 2xM6600 order is about to get validated on payment, so it will be built soon, I wonder what panels should I expect.

If I do get CMO's, will they be replaced by Dell on site? I did get the Pro Support.

Not sure about that - I would doubt it accepts an incoming video signal like that.

    Yes.

Coming from an M4400 with the Nvidia 770M, the 3000M is a significant upgrade. I do a fair amount of cad 2d/3d and a lot of photoshop. The 3000M has been performing very well for me.
