Yes mine is the same model with the Dell Internal Code of H8D3K.

    Several ways to approach this:

    1. Tell Dell that your screen on your unit is not the correct screen for this model. The internal code should be the one I listed above. Obviously the one you posted is not the Internal Code Dell uses for the M6600 screens.

    2. Check to see if there are imperfections. Dead/Stuck Pixels, flickering screen under low brightness or even just stains on the screen film. All of these can easily satisfy the execution of the Dell Premium Panel Guarantee. Therefore you can just ask them to get you a new screen that way and most likely it will be the correct LG or AUO Panel that you have gotten.

First option requires you to be very persuasive, cool and defensive, while if you have any screen problems, the second option is much better than is essentially no questions asked.

Of course I can say that the display built in is not that one which should be built in the M6600 model. But I think Dell will not react on this, as far as the diplay does not show issues.

I understand and I will fight for in a politely way.

I could not find dead or stuck pixels, no stains on the screen or something like that. The only thing I could find was that the display has a bit bright shining from the lower display frame. Not much und you can only see the phenomenon on black or dark backgrounds.

But the display itself is extremely dark an I always use the maximum of brightness. AND it is exactly as Scott before described:
The matte is extremely rough, it is like looking through sandpaper.

Unfortunately I could not detect any kind of flicker.

I did not bought the notebook directly from dell but from a reseller. But that will not be a problem I guess?
By the way: Thanks for helping me.

Is the reseller an authorized Dell reseller and also check to see if your unit has an active and legitimate warranty by putting your Service Tag in the support.dell.com website and see if it is active.

If your reseller doesn't understand your problems and refuse to help you, use the warranty base line and contact Dell directly and argue about the screen that is on your system is not correct to the ones used by Dell on M6600 and list about mismatching Dell P/N and the poor quality of the anti-glare surface to sandpaper.

Of course it is. This reseller managed the purchase of Dell computers for our medical university.

It has an active and legititimate warranty by using the Service Tag.

Yes that ist the way I want to do it.
I want to contact Dell directly.
The reseller is not clear and cumbersome endeavor. Difficult to describe for me in English. I ordered by the reseller because he made a better price as I could get from Dell direct.

I say just call up Dell and start making a case. You can say the screen is fuzzy due to a poor anti-glare setup of the matte finish causing poor viewing angles for you taste and you want a more clear anti-glare screen.

Guys, on another note, if you please:

Some time ago I reported here that my VGA monitor display is unstable for some 15 -20 mins after "cold start", and returns back to normal when fully warmed up. This only happens when using my Dock - never when the same monitor is directly hooked up the my M6600 VGA port. Bokeh even said in our PM exchange he would investigate the matter for me - did you find anything, mate?

Well, today when the monitor was at its worst (i.e. the display shimmering like hell), I took the laptop off the dock, and reconnected the monitor directly to it - the display went back to normal! So it's now clear that it's the dock station's electronics which is to blame.

Before I call Dell, I'd like to make sure this is a malfunction of my particular unit, and not a "feature" of all these docking stations - hence the question:

    - does anyone use his advanced e-port plus docking station for feeding a VGA monitor, and if so, is the display always stable?

It'd be nice to know for sure, as not too many users today actually use VGA - most prefer digital video outputs. So do I, but - using my Quadro card mainly for CUDA apps - I don't want to use its memory for display purposes when not necessary, hence my use of VGA/integrated graphics for external monitoring of common tasks like the Internet, email and such. Not to mention that the laptop runs cooler and quieter when the Quadro is idling :)

    Thanks for any feedback

    Piotr

I have just received my M6600 this week. I even asked about the bluish screen. I have the same Chi Mei screen... Should I complain to dell support? I used hwinfo, same result as robotti 80.

So now we have another person getting a Chi Mei screen.

Now I am really wondering if Dell is either having supply issues with the LG and AUO screens, and trying to substitue the Chi Mei screens with the hopes people won't notice, or if they are just trying to cut corners to save a few bucks per screen?

    Either way, NOT COOL Dell.

I may just hold off on ordering now. I am not going to waste $2800+ for a system with a sub-par consumer grade screen. I will have work to do with this machine every day, and that is why I am looking at "business-class" machine. Even if this means to HP (though I am loath to do that).

I hope someone from Dell is watching this thread and passes the message up the chain of command. "Premium" means exactly that, not "take what we give you and like it". :-(

Yeah, I'm getting very irritated because of this. Even the production date is the same. 2nd week of 2011. So they had some lying around and some unlucky customer gets them if they run out of stock of the good ones... I really hope dell will change it without making excuses... I will be calling them on monday.
