I just got my new M6600. All things are lovely, this thing is blazing fast. I got 19k in 3dmark06, and 12,5k in vantage all things left as I got it. It is slightly less then I saw here, but I wont do a thing with it as everything is nice and stable so far. In 2 years I will do a new driver and bios refresh if I find things slow :)

I find my normal FHD screen a bit blueish though. Can you recommend a calibration software to fix it? Manually changing blue color was not too good. It might be even that this screen is much better then my hp 8510p and I will find it ok later.

    Thx for helping me.

Do you know if AU makes a matte version of the panel? My guess is that they are the same panel with bg+r back-lighting vs the wled.

I am told the core v.4 [glossy] and v.5 [matte] panel is the same and the brightness/gamut/contrast difference is due to the outer layer finish. There may be other small differences, but I have not explored it enough.

    N-Trig Vs Wacom -

Two days ago I finally installed my Wacom Intous 4 driver & software. I am just more comfortable working on my wacom than on the digitzer for now.

Anywho, I wanted to clean up a wacom sketch with the limited levels of the NTrig and realized that my pressure sensitivity is gone from the touch screen.

If I uninstall the wacom drivers pressure sensitivity comes back to the NTrig stylus.

Anyone with an idea on how to get them to work together?

My Dell Precision M6600 has a Chi Mei display [Unknown Model: CMO1720] built.
    Monitor Name (Manuf.): 173HGE [Dell P/N: HC9GK]
    Manufactured: Week 2 2011

I have absolutely no idea if this is a good display and I have never heard of "Chi Mei" before. In my HP EliteBook 2540p is an AU Optronics display built and this is of course a very good display.

I use the Dell Precision M6600 with the maximum brightness level and do not have the feeling that it strained my eyes too much. So in my case the display could be brighter.

Does anybody else has a Chi Mei display built in Dell Precision M6600? If so, how satisfied are you with it?

    Another issue:
Sapphire TriXX does not save my preferred clock speed.
I use version 4.0.2 and Catalyst 11.8 Preview.
The ATI FirePro is shown as AMD Radeon HD 6970M Blackcomb X.
Any time I reboot/restart my system clock and memory speed will be stock again.

    //EDIT:
    I got it!
It was my mistake - shame on me.
I forgot to click on "...and restore clocks" setting.

That is odd. You seem to have received the same panel they use in the XPS 17 L702x non-3D model. I can confirm it is hardly a premium panel and the specs are not great in my opinion. At the very least, they should use the better N173HGE-L21 instead of the L11.

I would contact Dell and request a replacement under the premium panel guarantee. For a matte panel, I would strongly request Dell # H8D3K (AUO B173HW01 v.5). Tell them the brigthness and contrast on the CMO screen you received is almost half of what it should be and belongs in a consumer notebook, not a business class premium workstation such as the M6600. If they refuse, demand a 150-200 Euro credit so you can buy your own upgraded panel.

I am little sad, because of this.

I dont think that Dell will react on what I tell them on the service line.
I cant prove it, so why should Dell come to meet me?

Why can't you prove it? Use the pics above and tell them to review the specs of the panels.

If your receipt reads like this, I would push the issue -

    320-1925 17.3" UltraSharp FHD(1920x1080) Wide View Anti-Glare LED-backlit with Premium Panel Guarantee

In my opinion, the CMO L11 is not an UltraSharp nor a premium panel for the M6600. It also does not offer the "wide view" as advertised so you do have a case in this matter.

    Scott-

PS: Last resort if Dell EU is not good to you -
There are chaps in the Asus G73 threads and/or Dell XPS 17 threads that may buy your panel from you for about US$150 and that would then allow you to purchase the AUO panel of your choice.
