I would like to order an m6400 and equip it with 4gb ram and 2 500gb HDs. I'm going to take a shot in the dark and guess that dell's pricing for these upgrades might be unreasonable. I found a good price for the HDs here but I'm not sure where to find the best 4gb of notebook ram. Does anyone have suggestions (especially regarding ecc, voltage, cas latency)?

I'm excited about the 'Ultrasharp™ 17" WUXGA RGBLED Edge to Edge (1920x1200)' option! Now I'll just have to decide whether the q9100 (2.26ghz quad, 45nm, 45 watt, ~$850) is worth it or just a total waste of money.

*I did not see any mention of Wireless USB in the spec sheet. Isn't wireless USB offered on some of Dell's consumer notebooks?

I'm going to get in low on the CPU, RAM, and HDDs so I can keep the price down but still get a great screen. I can always upgrade those other things later when prices fall.

Man, I wish they had an RSS feed or something off their Precision line. I too am hitting refresh on that site many times a day.

    It has 4 DIMMS right?

That means it'll cost $700 to upgrade to 16GB on NewEgg (but it'll be DD2-PC25300 not DD3-PC38300) and about $2000+ (unless they give discount) from Dell.

It's a nice computer most definitely, but I guarantee when the price shows up your mouth will return to it's regular dry self.

It'll probably be cheaper to just build a desktop that's better than this, but probably wont be as sexy :(.

Always cheaper to build a desktop than buy a laptop of the same caliber. But who wants to conquer the world from their desk?

Anyway, AFAIK it essentially has 2 MB on one. That is how it can power 2 seperate monitors, have 4 DIMMs, and have a quad-core w/o having the Intel quad core Montevina (2 dual cores). I'm assuming the 1TB of diskspace comes from supporting more than 2 HDs, but I could be wrong on that last point.

I guarantee this though, the power brick will add a few more pounds to your travel plans.
