For most test I am using AS SSD Benchmark.

With Samsung Drives the Benchmark within Magican can be used.

CrystalDiskMark is risky and should only be used in a special non-infected version (e.g. the portable version).

I can not answer your RAID-problem as I am no specialist for RAID-solutions, sorry.
But maybe you might think about selling the drives at Ebay and use this 1000GB 840 EVO drive
    (MZ-7TE1T0BW) instead?

I used the Samsung-clone-software to copy the installation to the SSD. It worked well. The SSD was connected at the esata-port with an external power supply.
For my last Dell notebook I used a media-bay-caddy and the clonecilla-software.
A media-bay-caddy is more easy to use as it needs no power supply.
Clonecilla software is free and fast in transfering-bandwidth, but clonezilla is less easy to use compared to the Samsung-clone-software.

Can you mention specifically what drive models you’re using?

Also, I would be quite interested to know if you confirmed the mSATA drive to work at full intended speed at the mSATA slot prior to setting up both as RAID 0.

While the manual seems to state that mSATA only supports SATA-2, some guys posting in this forum have reported it as SATA-3-capable. (But people may be wrong.)

It could be a valid starting point to confirm that both drives are identical (except for their casing and the interface used), and that, individually, they both perform at SATA-3, at their max. intended speed.

However, I suppose, you now have your Windows installation on the RAID 0. I don’t really have much personal experience with setting up RAID so I’m not sure what your best options are at the moment to test the drives individually. Unless you had done that, and therefore you’re sure that both drives can perform at SATA-3 individually, in their respective slots.

I suppose you do have the latest BIOS, and the latest Intel drivers? To begin with… ;-)

Could anyone comment on the battery life of the M4800 (with and without full brightness and WLAN )?

    It's pretty good.

With Optimus enabled, brightness on 60%, WLAN enabled, I get around 6 hours, I can get more if I turn down few more settings.

Thanks for the reply. Is that with the 1080p display?

    Yes, thats what I thought.

Than this laptop really seems to perfect for me if its possible to get 6-7h. Notebookcheck's review only reported 3h30min with WLAN enabled.

Pretty much what alexhawker said. With the QHD display, Optimus is force-disabled. Without Optimus, my best run times are around the 3 hour mark. With Optimus on, I can get out well past 3 hours, closer to 6.
