well it is barely noticeable to be honest. for some reason i just felt the urge to look along the edges (kind of like looking down the side of a car for dents), and there it was. trouble is, now i know it is there i'm not sure if my ocd will let me forget it that easily! and if i do return it for a refund and re-order a new one, i could end up with a unit carrying another more noticeable defect

Seems like it's the keyboard, took it apart and reconnected it, still does it but at a lower frequency now.

I have a question about the warranty, I have '3Yr Basic Warranty - Next Business Day - Minimum Warranty', does this mean I can get Dell to send someone with a replacement keyboard and replace it? Or have them to send the keyboard so I can do it myself?

    I have the 4930mx 32gig RAM K2100 QHD+ and Dual 512GB SSD's in Raid 0.
One of the SSD's is a mini card and my Raid0 performance is horrible. Read write speeds are about 150Mb per second which is 1/3 of just one drive. I was hoping for 800-1gig per second. Clearly something is not right. I am on a win 8.1 op system by the way.
For comparisons sake these are the results on the laptop

and these are the results of my desktop with 2 2 year old Kingston SSD's on Raid 0 using the standard ASUS motherboard software raid.

    Any advice?

Isn't the mSATA on M4800 limited to 3Gb/s? It's the same with M4600 and M4700 iirc, or am I thinking of the optical drive slot?

About the double tapping keyboard I mentioned earlier, I contacted Dell about it via email and asked if I can get the keyboard sent to me instead of sending someone out and not even a day later they replied to tell me they're sending a keyboard, now that's what I call a customer service.

Mine adds “on-site” to the “next business day”. (But it wouldn’t really make much sense otherwise.) Why don’t you just chat with the support?

Also, if your keyboard is not backlit, maybe you could use this opportunity to get a backlit one. ;-) Some people report them to be sturdier, anyway.
(Mine is not backlit, and it happens to flex quite noticeably between L and Enter… while it is rock-solid around the trackpoint. But flex should hardly have much to do with backlighting beyond mere coincidence in build.)

I’d say so. There is hardly one built perfectly. For instance, mine has the front left corner slightly sharper then the right one. It feels as if it could almost scratch one’s wrist, but it doesn’t really, and it is actually only a microscopic imperfection. The sharp left corner has been reported by quite a few people.

In a perfect world, you’d get a perfectly built machine. In this world, I’d say you’d be playing with the chances of—whatever—a replacement machine having less then ideally pasted CPU cooler? A worse LCD piece? Some other fault that would eventually creep up? You never know. ;-)
