I have an M4800 Notebook Workstation 15.6" FHD i7 32GB 1TB K2100M, connected to a Pro2X USB 2.0 dock with 2 Dell FHD 1920x1080 monitors each, connected via DP of the dock to HDMI of the monitors.

I am planning to buy a 3rd monitor 2560 x 1080, 21:9 (Ultrawide) to connect via DP/DVI and move one of the FHD 1920x1080 monitors from DP to VGA (to free up a port to connect the new 3rd monitor 2560 x 1080, 21:9).

So, wanted to confirm if this configuration would work or not with M4800 powered with K2100M connected to USB 2.0 Pro2X:

    1 FHD 1920x1080 via VGA
    1 FHD 1920x1080 via DP
1 2560 x 1080, 21:9 via DP/DVI to HDMI of the monitor (Will I need special cable for this or same FHD cable which I used earlier would work?)

    Thanks!

This will work. You can have three external monitors connected with an NVIDIA GPU... Two via DVI or DP, and the third has to be VGA.

    Thanks Aaron.

Instead of 1 Ultrawide 2560 x 1080, 21:9 connected to DVI/DP on Pro2X, can I connect 4K monitor through one of the DP? So, will this work, without any lag/issues connected via Pro2X dock:

    1 FHD 1920x1080 via VGA
    1 FHD 1920x1080 via DP
    1 UHD 4K 3840 x 2160 via DP

Connecting a 4K panel to the DisplayPort on the PR02X dock "should" work. In practice, though... I have tried it with the Dell P2715Q 4K display with an M4800 (and also 7510) but found that it can't always maintain a stable connection at 60 Hz unless it is connected directly to the system, not to the dock. When connected to the dock, it would always want to drop down to 30 Hz. I wonder if the connection through the dock has an issue with the bandwidth of a 60 Hz 4K signal... These docks were designed before 4K hit the market.

Hi, can anyone tell if m4800 laptop should recognize the camera in Device Manager/imaging devices from the fresh Windows install? Windows 8.1 x64 pro. Or will I need some additional software to have the camera recognized (it would be strange cause the m4700's camera was recognized without additional software in Win8.1)? I just bought m4800 second-hand and the camera is not recognized. I even replaced camera with a new one (same model: CN-0767N9) without effect. I just don't see any unrecognized devices in device manager and no camera in imaging devices. I found out that Dell sold this laptop with CD: X1WGC (Software for Integrated Camera) and I don't have this CD - is it necessary? I consider replacing LCD/Camera cable, but maybe this is not hardware problem. Last option would be to replace motherboard (however it may be too expensive).

For me, the camera was always immediately recognized by Windows without the need for additional drivers, at least as far back as Windows 8. Just like the M4700. Make sure that the end of the cable that connects to the motherboard is secure (note that the cable for the camera is different than the one for the LCD), and make sure that the camera is not disabled in the BIOS.

    Hey guys.
Does someone use M4800 with the E-Port docking station (in my case, it's USB3.0 PR03X)?

I have a problem with audio output jack on the docking station.
I have an external speaker connected to E-Port, and when I boot Windows, everything works fine, sound plays through the external speaker. When I disconnect it, sound start to play through the laptop speakers, just as is should. But when I reconnect the external speaker back to E-Port, sound is still playing using the laptop speakers, and the whole Windows Audio system hangs. For example, when I click the Sound icon in system tray, the sound volume popup shows, but I can't change the volume there - the slider just doesn't move. I also can't open the Playback devices window, I can't start any other applications that play sound. If during this time I try to disable the Realtek audio device in Device Manager, the window just hangs and that's it. If I try to reboot the machine, it won't - it just hangs with a black screen (I tried to wait at least 10 minutes).

    Can someone confirm this problem?

I use Windows 10 Creators Update (but the same problem definitely was on previous Anniversary Update 1607 too) and the latest official Dell audio driver.

If I uninstall the Dell audio driver and use just a generic High Definition Audio Device driver, the E-Port jack works as expected, without hangs, so it's definitely not a hardware problem. But using the generic driver, Windows doesn't maintain laptop jacks priority like it does using the official driver (for example, if I connect headphones to laptop jack when external speaker is connected to the docking station's jack, there is no sound in the headphones), so it's very inconvenient.

I also checked this scenario in Windows 7 - everything works fine there using the same driver version, so the problem is observable only in Windows 10 (I tried builds 1511, 1607 and 1703).

P.S. I just found out that if I first boot the laptop out of the E-Port and then dock it, everything works as it should - I can plug in and disconnect speakers to the E-Port many times without any problems.

Hi, Just skimmed through, I'm familiar with such (dock) YOU MUST install "dell audio driver" but after installing chipset>managment driver>(can disable it after installing everything)>then>Rapid-storage Driver. reboot each time dont SLACK.

When done with this routine, install "DELL AUDIO DRIVER" this driver may reboot your system or ask to reboot it, not once but twice! (if not installation is update and not a clean install)

After this... you can take your system and slap it on the damn glitch dock! it will then install small "dock driver".

Just keep things clean... as in do things in sequence, and make sure you don't download corrupted drivers either.

usually Dell Audio would ask to manually chose which output you would want to use, when you plug jack. aka headphones or Dell speaker in menu.

(there are varieties choices inside menu Large, Medium, Small, - same for Headphone types)

it all makes huge difference in sound (you can also chose Studio Quality if you have good hearing) so click through and choose what sounds decent with your setup.

    hope this helps.

IMPORTANT apply Dell audio AFTER all the rest, AND after that best to install new Nvidia driver that just came out. on top...Reboot.

I had this driver corruption and it really messed up Premiere pro by Adobe. generally disconnecting from dock while active is bad Baaad Idea. :)

    Hi guys,
I have DELL Precision M4800 too and just wonder is it possible to swap Quadro K2100M with new Quadro M1200 graphics card pulled from DELL Precision 7520/5520 series?
Not sure about compatibility on the BIOS matters, what if system will refuse card for not familiar.

You will have to check and see if you have the LVDS or eDP version of the M4800. There is no way that the Quadro M1200 will work with an LVDS system, but it might work if you have eDP. (No one has tried it yet... That's the only way to know for sure.)

[Edit] - Actually I'm not sure, I was thinking of the Pascal-based Quadros in the 7720, which don't work with LVDS. The refreshed Maxwell Quadros may still work with LVDS.
