Dell Power Manager (downloadable tool) has some fan profiles that you can set ("Quiet", "Cool", etc.) but that's the only config that you get.

Any recommendations for new batteries other than Dell, or should I bite the bullet?

If you find anyone let me know, otherwise I'll most likely have to rebuild the battery myself using some higher amp 18650 cells standard are usually 2100mAh~2800mAh not sure what the highest is but I have seen some 3600mAh even with that you still only looking at 30min to an 1hr longer battery life approx under heavy use.

you know there is a battery slice for the M4800 also, I figure with those two things rebuilt maybe push 6hr heavy use. If not more.

I'm usually plugged in, so I don't need the slice, but the battery wear is bad enough that it's now annoying me. And I've had it a few years, so it's not unexpected.

Regarding the replacement battery, I've had mixed results for my Dell M4400. The first replacement battery was a lemon, but it was cheap enough and I was not surprised that it turned out that way.

The second one was much better and still works fine. I gave that computer to my parents and it's all good.

Going the non-Dell route, I'd use Amazon and buy something with lots of reviews with 4+ stars average. Even then, you could get unlucky.

For example, here's one REPLACEMENT BATTERY - and I'm not endorsing them in any way...

Can somebody list the color specs of the m4800 with the UHD display?
I wonder if the panel is identical to the xps 15 and 5510 uhd?

The review is only of the m4800 with the qhd+ panel which is good but doesn't over full srbg coverage (98.3% srbg and 64% rbg)
    http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Dell-Precision-M4800-Notebook.104416.0.html

This video shows a comparison between the 8770w with dream color ips rbg display (same ips panel as the m6700/m6600 and m4600/m4700 though smaller) and the UHD m4800. From what I can see, the udh seems to have even better color contrast and much better blacks.

However compared to the m4800 with the qhd+ and m4800 premiercolor ips rbg, the ips panel of the m4800 is evidently better as shown here in the video.

I ended up getting a genuine one from Dell for $100 using a coupon. It's nice to have four hours of battery again instead of less than an hour!

I just got an m6700 with the premier color IPS display and I noticed immediately after turning it that the whites have a very strong yellowish tint. Is this normal and will it become go back to white after calibration?

Does the uhd display of the m4800 cover 100% NTSC coverage or even 100% rbg?
And is it just 8 or 10bit?
If not is it the same IGZO panel used in the xps 15 uhd display?
