Any updates on the D5000 dock? Seems there are some issues with W10.

I haven't used 10 in months, sorry. It's working great in 8.1 though so it should be good in 10.

How many 4k monitors can the k2100m with QHD+ display. Is it good enough to power the internal 3200x1800 display and another 4k external at 60hz. I'm getting some flickering on my external display. I'm trying to figure out if it's the video card, the displayport cable, or the monitor.

Edit for anyone running into this problem. I resolved this in nvidia control panel by setting a custom resolution of 3840x2160 @ 55hz. It seems this is a prevailing problem with 4k at 60hz per youtube. There is no difference to me at 60hz, 55hz or 50hz.

Any one have any tips to speed up the m4800. I'm getting some lag running a the laptop screen at 3200x1800 and 2 4k monitors and a number of virtual machines. I have the 4800mq cpu and Nvidia k2100m, 32gb ram with 500gb msata and 1tb 7200rpm. Can run win7 or 8.1 host machine as I have a specific program that only runs on those, run throttlestop.

    Thanks

Are you running any VMs off of the 1TB disk? My experience is if you run more than one or maybe two off a single "regular" hard drive (non-RAID non-SSD), performance starts to really bog down as they compete with each other for the limited I/O.

I'm running an 8.1 host (prefer win7 but I thought 8.1 allowed different dpi for different screens), with 2x win7 vm, a server 2008r2 vm, sometimes 2012 vm, an osx 10.11 vm and an ubuntu. I'm getting weird keyboard lag and other lag. Ran better on my w520, w530, w541 but those didn't have a qhd+ and 2 4k screens, Though input lag exists even without the 4k monitors attached. Running all my windows machine off the SSD, my osx and ubuntu vm off my 1TB drive just to spread the I/O across 2 disks. I may try to do RAID with 1x 500gb msata and 500gb in the 2.5 bay and get a dvd tray for my 1tb.

HI. Ive picekd up a nice m4800 here in China.... for 5400rmb. It came wiht a 4800m i7, 8gb, 500gb, FHD...

I switched for the 4810mq I had in my 6540... maxed out the ram to 32 gb, put 2 micron m500 1tb ssd non raid, and a 850evo 256gb msata ssd... and I swapped out the k1100 for an m2000m graphic card.

I was really dissappointd that I cant switch out my AU FHD... Its pretty nice for a non-ips... but Ihad big dreams about the 4k untill I realized the whole edp vs lvds thing...

If I can ever find a 4k m4800 Ill trade mine in...

But I am dual booting ubuntu 16.04/win10... run vm all the time W 2 dell external non 4k screens on the displayport.

I just wanted to say I love everything about this machine. Runs perfect in Linux, got the 97w battery, runs 3 hours easily.....

I disaple switching when not on the juice.....

I love the hell out of the casing. Very durable.

I love the low temperatures, and the ability to run 2 vms no hiccups.

I can see myself using this a long time. IF I can get past the 4k screen issue.... I am sure I will upgrade one day...

Not quite sure why this machine receives so much hate.

IMHO Dells laptops have gotten worse over the last years.

a)The latitude line is a plastic joke of the durability it used to be....
    b) every single laptop is getting cheaped out to the max... thin not for consumers but to save production costs....
c)clearly dell is trying to up the designed obsolescence cycle and their previous durable machines hurt their bottom line....

Sure id like a new 7510... but not sure about that.,.

    A) Is pcie really worth it? I mean, with 32 gb how much are you using your hard drives anyways? I never even touch my scratch disks...
    B)Im runing the m2000m now
C)I can still upgrade a cpu (no need for me now)
d)non pcie ssd drives should be getting cheaper soon....
e)I hate the flat key chicklet keyboard style...

I can see this machine going 4 more years easily. Much more than any of my previous laptops. Perhaps longer (if I can get past the 4k screen thing)

    My questions...

A)Im gettting ready to get a 240w charger.... currently using a 180... will the 240 do anything special for me?
B)has anyone found the ultimate secret to get the FIPS to work in linux? Would love to have the novelty
C)Any ips alteratives to my rather nice AU tft that work with my LVDS?
    D) Is it true you can only use 16gb of pc1866 ram and 32 gb og pc1600 ram?
E)is the m2000m Im currently running the best I can get?
F)Anyone else love their m4800? is their another group of people/forum who feels the same love I do?
G)I haven't seen in person around here any newer than the m4800/m6800 precisions... but online in the videos and pictures they seem to be totally cheaper looking and less robust. Is that true?

Why the usrge to upgradeif you have the 4k screen? Is it really just the pcie thing?

The 240W charger won't have any special benefit. I have one that came with the dock I bought on eBay.

I also love my M4800. I'm pissed that Dell borked Optimus for the high res screen (3200 x 1800 on mine), so you've got a huge edge on me in battery life.

My best friend just received a 7510 for architecture grad school. I haven't seen it in person yet (will be a few months before I make it to NO), but I agree about loving how sturdy the chassis is.

Seen your posts a lot. You really that far from power each day? Interesting I see we have the same m500s, how is that holding up for you? I bought mine second hand, and I am hoping the smart data about powered on time can be believed. They seem to be awesome to me. I run my system off the 850evo 256... I use the m500s for storage..... but I am not sure how much faster the 850 evo is I just assume it is. I am wondering if the real world difference between the m500 vs. 850evo vs. m2.1 pcie nvm drives would more noticeable than 1600 vs. 1866 ram speed? I mean I am a long way from hardly touching my swap drive..... I have a lot of urge to upgrade this screen though... perhaps unwarranted.... this fhd is not bad...but...
