Ordered this last week, got what I think was a reasonable deal (Dell Rep had to go to his manager to get approval for bigger discount - but this is a 6 figure per year account so probably didn't have to try that hard)

    M4700
    Core i7-3840QM
    32 GB RAM
    15.6US FHD(1920x1080)WV AG
    Nvidia Quadro 2000M
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64 w/XP Mode
    256GB mSATA + 2x 500GB 7200 RPM (no optical drive)
    Webcam/Microphone
    Contact/Contactless Smart Card Reader
    Backlit Keyboard
    DPE Hardware Encryption Accelerator
    DPE Software
    Intel Ultimate N WiFi
    Bluetooth
    Intel vPro
    97 Wh Battery
    3 year battery warranty
    5 year ProSupport
    5 year Accidental Damage Protection

and a few accessories along with it:

2x Dell E-Port Plus Advanced Port Replicator (one for home, one for work)
2x Dell Smart Card Reader Keyboard
    2x Dell MS111 Mouse
    97 Wh Battery Slice
    Extra 240W AC Adapter

    Total: CAD $4579.65 + Tax

Priced out on the Dell Large Business site (with admittedly hugely inflated prices) I believe the configuration was in the neighbourhood of $7000. I decided to get all the memory and drives from Dell as they came down enough to get the price within a hundred bucks or so of buying it all separately, and everything is nicely covered under the Dell warranty.

    Three quick questions:
    1. Is the optibay SATA 3?
    2. If I plan to later upgrade to a 3940xm from a 3720qm will I need to change the heat sink too like on the m6700? I know that on the 17' model there are three course heatsinks 35 45 and 55 watt. Is it the same with the m4700?
    3. Where can I get a manual with all the part numbers for this notebook?

1: It likely is or the mSATA wouldn't be SATA 2.
    2: Probably
3: Call Dell or ask owners for a specific part no.

No, it is not. There is only one SATA-3 port in the M4700.

Wow, way to screw up Dell. That is rather disappointing.

My estimated delivery date was supposed to be Feb 28th (tomorrow), but my laptop is still showing as "In Production". Is it safe to assume I won't be seeing my laptop tomorrow?

    Looks that way

they are usually fairly consistant in updating the info once it ships.

Production delays are not unheard of either.

You can always call them or try an online chat.
