I'm betting Dell outlet in the US, some coupons and probably haggling as well.

Yep. I buy all mine there. They will make deals. And the warranty is the same. The support is the same. I cannot see buying a new build. Never have.

The outlet is great in the US, it sucks in Canada though.

    +1

I bought a few older things from Dell Canada as gifts, but they rarely have a good price on a newer product, if they ever have a newer product

You think that's good ... then I and a mate just picked up:

    I7-3720QM
    8 (2x4) GB Ram
    512GB 7200 rpm HD
    Firepro M4000 GPU
    Intel 6300 Wifi
    DVD ROM
    LG Phillips LGD032C 1920x1080

Price was $ 945.00 from Dell Outlet in Australia.

    Next purchase: Crucial M4 mSATA 128GB :D

To reduce ABRUPT FAN ON/OFF (CYCLING) and associated FAN NOISE (with Nvidia GPU)

    Run NVIDIA Control Panel
Expand 3D Settings in the left pane | Manage 3D Settings | Global Settings
Change the Preferred Graphics Processor to Integrated Graphics | click Apply
Click Program Settings | Click NVidia GPU in the drop down box for each program for which you want the Nvidia GPU rather than Integrated Graphics.

The settings in the Program Settings tab OVERRIDE those in the Global Settings tab.

The navigation may differ on different versions of Nvidia Control Panel
Most programs bundled with Win7 do not have a 3D driver. The current Firefox does have a 3D driver, so for that version of Firefox, you can select the NVidia GPU as preferred.

    ===========================================

To reduce ABRUPT FAN ON/OFF (CYCLING) and associated FAN NOISE (with ATI GPU)

In Catalyst | Advanced | Uncheck the Power Play checkbox | Apply
