For those who have theirs, roughly how long was it "In Production"?

Mine was in production for 2+ weeks. Just so everyone who is not familiar with Dell understands, In Production includes the time from they start building it to from when its shipped from China to their US distribution center. So sometimes its a while, and sometimes they have a big shipment ready to go to the US.

Bah. Today is day 4 of "in production" for me, but my estimated date is all the way out to the 10th. My sales rep originally said that I should get it much sooner than that.

I would consider anything before the 10th a bonus. Mine was in production for weeks then magically said shipped two days before it arrived. i"m guessing it arrived in TN and then shipped.

FYI everyone, HWINFO identifies the screen of the regular FHD screen to be the Samsung 156HT dell PN GJHY2

Dell pissed me off. What do you guys think?

I first ordered the M4700 online on August 3. On August 21, I receive an email saying my order was canceled. They told me it was because I had selected the 256GB SS mini-card drive as my stand alone HD and that it was not compatible configuration. Sorry, but I have very little knowledge on the hardware of computers, I only know the software and processors I use for business. They should have denied the checkout to begin with since it was not a compatible configuration, or at the very least, not until nearly 3 weeks to cancel the order. So they canceled and had me reorder one with the correct 2.5" SS HD, which I did that same evening. The new computer would have to start production from scratch. Delivery was scheduled for September 5. Today I log in and see delivery has been delayed until October 16. Are you F'ing kidding me? I lost nearly 3 weeks of production time because of an incorrect configuration that never should have been pushed through in the first place, and now they delay delivery by over a month and a half on my new build, which is basically the exact same. Anyone else facing a long delay in production? This sucks because fall is the busiest time of the year for me for work, and my XPS is always overheating and unreliable.

[email protected] Try emailing that address and see if they can help you at all, or PM one of the Dell reps on this board. The system can run fine with just a minicard so I don't know why they cancelled your order.

jjp11, have you tried to call them and ask for them to expedite your order since they totally messed up on your first order? Maybe even ask for more of a discount too......if not, doesn't hurt to ask

I ordered my M4700 the first day it was posted as available on the Dell Website, July 24th, and it was In Production for several weeks, it shipped on Aug 8th, Dell is actually very lucky my boss said to buy from a american company but not HP, otherwise I'd have gone with a Lenovo W530 and had it back in June.

That said, I do like the M4700 a lot, I got it with the Nvidia K200M which seems to handle the current 2 games I've been playing with maxed out settings, Eve Online and Star Trek Online (although these games are not exactly GPU taxing games). I also only got it with 2GB of ram and purchased 16GB of ram and installed it myself.
