    At the time I'm writing this, the images still haven't been approved by NotebookReview. As a workaround, I now additionally uploaded them to imageshack.us:

    Thank you for the images Christoph!

    I will try adjusting my Nvidia panel settings.

    Could you attach a image running Dreamweaver with Arial and Cleartype ON? On the following images you can see my red "l" letters, and cuts "/".

    I don't have Dreamweaver.

    Does this only occur in Dreamweaver or is it a global thing? Have a closer look (click to enlarge):
    checho-subpixelaa-dreamweaver-arial.png
    The lower "l" isn't more red, it's actually less green which makes it look more red.

    EDIT:
    I just had a brilliant Idea that I should have had much earlier. Here are my ClearType settings straight from the registry, cleartype-M4400-SEC5443.reg :):
    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]
    "FontSmoothing"="2"
    "FontSmoothingGamma"=dword:00000000
    "FontSmoothingOrientation"=dword:00000001
    "FontSmoothingType"=dword:00000002

    Is that a font size of 10? Mine was 10, and while your font is exactly as high as mine, it's much wider and some letters look different.
    cleartype-subpixelaa-M4400-SEC5443-CourierNew-christophdarktext-chechobrighttext.jpg
    Your text is the bright one, mine is the dark one.

    EDIT: turns out your text was actually a size of 11, I made a detailed comparison now:
    cleartype-subpixelaa-M4400-SEC5443-CourierNew11-christophdarktext-chechobrighttext.png
    The lower text rows are yours.
    This comparison shows no difference in ClearType. So I can only come to the conclusion that this either has to do with DreamWeaver, or (in case that it is a problem that's also existent in other programs) some kind of mysterious Vista or font weirdness. But one thing is for sure:
    This is definitely not what it's meant to look like.

    Hello Christoph!

    There's no doubt that Cleartype works fine. However, I think that my bad experience with fonts are probably caused by the brilliant colours of the screen.

    Yes, Cleartype shows "colours" to rendering fonts, but the question is: how much brilliant/intense do you see these colours? It's probable that in my screen these colours are more intense than yours and caused bad experience with fonts.

    Perhaps I can correct/reduce this adjusting the colours through nvidia panel... or perhaps it's a problem of oversaturated colours?

    I attach some photos where you can see the greens and reds of my screen.

    I have tried to turn off Cleartype: colours around fonts disappear, but I'm still uncomfortable reading text...

    I'm thinking about ask for a change to 2CCFL matte screen (my initial option). What do you think?
