    Hi,
I'm looking for a EU compatible LTE WWAN card for my notebook (supporting 1800MHz), but as far as I know there is no DELL notebook with it at this moment.

    E7440 datasheet tells the following:
    Mobile Broadband & GPS Options:
    - Dell Wireless™ 5570 HSPA+ Mini Card (this is not LTE capable)
    - Dell Wireless™ 5808 LTE Mobile Broadband (This is for North America only, probably because supports only 700 MHz ?!)

    Do you have any advice?
    Thanks a lot

I have the same experience with DELL Latitude E 5540 - I expect it has the same keyboard.

Can anyone help confirm if usb powershare is working on the e7440? I have enabled it in the BIOS, but plugging in to the usb charging port when the computer is off didn't charge my phone.

anybody own both the e7240 1080p touch and the e7440 1080p? If you had to choose one which would you pick. I got the e7240 and aside from some lousy drivers, old bios, and some work arounds I had to do it's working very well now. I want to order the e7440 1080p. I prefer a slightly cooler laptop bottom has I work with them on my lap or reclined while watching tv, and I assume the bigger e7440 chasis will make it cooler. Also as a 10+ year thinkpad user I've grown to like the pointing stick and the buttons under the keyboard which the e7440 has. 1080p on a 12.5 screen looks great and I use fonts at 100 or 125% and it's very legible if anyone wants to know. Girlfriend says 20+ laptops in the house is too much so I can order the e7440 but I'd need to give up the e7240.

I had both at one point in time, and ended up going with the e7440 1080p touch. I liked the smaller form factor of the e7240, but decided on the e7440 mainly because it runs cooler and also has a trackpoint, which I found myself missing when using the e7240. Those 2 reasons alone made the e7440 experience much better for me and I knew that I was going to be happier long-term with it.

thanks for the input, did you find it significantly cooler? The e7240 on my laptop for an extended period gets a tad warm for my taste. Notebookcheck reviews indicated the 7440 is a lot cooler. 10c I think.

It was cool enough that I wouldn't mind having the e7440 on my lap (provided you are just web browsing or doing light tasks). Like you observed, the e7240 got a bit too warm for my taste. Bear in mind I only have an SSD configuration, so everything runs pretty quiet. There might be more heat configured with a HDD, since it would line up right against the bottom plate. I think the best would be to try out both side-by-side if you can before making a decision.

Can you elaborate on this? Maybe you can help me resolve some of my minor issues.

was having some sleep/hibernate resume issues where the HD activity light was blinking but the screen would remain blank. I updated to the newest bios a08 I think and I uninstalled dell's video drivers and went straight to intel's site for the drivers. If you have disconnecting bluetooth mouse I had a post about ia convoluted way to installing atheros drivers for the bluetooth portion and dell's drivers for the wlan. GL

Also there are guys using ubuntu who had similar issue and like me they disabled a lot of stuff in the bios and possibly ran into problems. Have you disabled stuff in the bios to save battery and reduce heat? Try default

    http://www.archivum.info/ubuntu-bug...itude-E7240-does-not-resume-from-suspend.html

Also if you run windows 7 sp1 there is a known bug with s3 sleep state.

Also has anyone run windows 8.1 vs windows 7x64 on the e7240? Does it run better on windows 8.1?
