Is anyone else having issues with an external display flickering while using an E-Dock? I just recently purchased a Dell U2414H and was using a DVI to HDMI cable from Monoprice and the display would flicker and cut out every now and then. I though it might be the old power adapter I was using for my dock so I swapped it out and that did not solve the problem. I eventually used a DisplayPort cable and have since solved the problem but have noticed it cropped up on a co-workers computer using a Dell 1908WFP via VGA.

I got an email this morning with a new coupon code for 25% off latitude and precision laptops. Not sure if they limit the number of uses, but here it is for anyone who wants to try it:

I was looking on Tuesday night and saw a fully loaded E7440 in the Outlet and said....If I had a coupon, I would buy this. Next morning....coupon! For just under $1300 with California tax I got:

    Dell Outlet Latitude E7440
Processor: Intel Core 4th Generation i7-4600U Processor (4M Cache, up to 3.30 GHz), With SmartCard
    256GB mSATA Solid State Drive
    Windows 8 Pro
Fingerprint Reader and Smart Card Reader (Contact and Contactless) Palmrest
14 Inch FHD (1920x1080) LED-backlit LCD Touch Panel, WiGig Capable
    Dell Wireless 1601 (WiGig) 802.11a/b/g/n/ad + Bluetooth 4.0 LE
Internal English Backlit Dual Pointing Keyboard
Light Sensitive Webcam and Noise Cancelling Digital Array Mic, Touch Screen
    4 Cell Battery
    8GB (1x8GB) 1600MHz DDR3L Memory

The only thing I wanted was the Intel 7260 802.11AC card. I have one in my E6430 and I'll swap it in as well as my Samsung 840 Pro. Be nice to have 2 SSDs in this machine. Shame I don't think it can do RAID-0.

She'll be here on Wednesday. Really looking forward to it especially after one of my colleagues had the E7240 on his desk today. That is a nice little machine too.

I just got my e7240 and it is awesome. Great quality and the keyboard flex doesnt seem that noticable for it like I read. Maybe the flex comments are mainly for the e7440 and somehow carried over to the e7240. I am seriously very impressed by the style and the overall quality. The only thing I am wondering about is if anyone else heres a kinking sound as they rotate the bezel. For instance if I start to push the screen farther back I hear the klanking sound as I pull it back up. What is it? If anyone else could try that and do it slowly so you can hear the sound I would appreciate it.

Other than that the quality seems beyond thinkpads and feels way nicer than my last thinkpad t430. It was also way cheaper than the x240 for way better specs . After coupon my cost came to about $950ish after 30% coupon adjustmentwith 256gb ssd, 8gb of ram, 1080p touch, dual band wifi and i5 4300. Getting the x240 with these specs was atleast $1750. Since lenovo outlet rarely seems to have these x240 I would say currently dell e7240 is a really really nice go to for the 12.5 inch range

I just received an E7240 from the outlet and the touchscreen wasn't working. It doesn't show up in device manager and there is no "pen and touch" setting in the control panel. It's a nice looking 1080p screen, but the missing touch screen is a mystery to me.

I've already been on the phone with Dell and they are sending a replacement.

Has anyone else seen this happen?

Can you tell me what support phone number you used? Is it different for an Outlet refurb unit?

I first contacted technical support through chat, and they directed me to call customer care at (800) 456-3355. I believe all the support is the same whether it's outlet or new.

Customer care could only process a return, not an exchange, so they transferred me to another technical support representative on the phone who went through a ridiculous 90 minutes of troubleshooting before agreeing to exchange my system for a new one with the same specs.

is there a way to custom configure one without it going through premier? I want to order my own e7440, not through the company... But I already have SSD and RAM to put in to it. I try chat but they just keep giving me the pre-configured bs systems even though I ask for custom specs.

I got mine yesterday, and immediately formatted it with Windows 8.1 Pro. Installed all of the same software I have on my E6430 with Windows 7. The touch screen is really nice. I used my Spyder4Pro to calibrate the display and out of the box the screen is really close and it displays 100% of sRGB. The 1080p touch screen is WELL worth it if you care about color accuracy.

Been at work for a few hours on wired Ethernet and the battery is at 71%. I have a Core i7. If I watch when I type, I see the keyboard flex, but if I touch type.....I don't even notice it.

I'm really happy with this machine. It is a nice upgrade from my E6430.

Is anyone using pre-boot authentication with this? I'm having a hard time figuring out what I need to do in order to require a fingerprint to boot.

I tried installing "Dell Data Protection | Encryption" but that looks like the Enterprise version which requires a security server on the back end. I don't see a Personal version to download.
