Can anyone advise on how (or whether it's possible) to disable the hardware volume/mute buttons on the e7240, short of disassembly and disconnection? My mute button behaves flaky, and turns off/on randomly.

Is it possible that 1080p screen of e7440 is TN panel or 1080p e7440 screens are always IPS panels? Thanks.

    Hi,

Though I suppose it's too late to respond I will write for the next users viewing the thread.

In my case, the msata slot came empty, but the two cables for the wwan card were there and when I put the msata ssd I wasn't able to close the laptop's back lid. So I needed to find them elsewhere and as I had a hdd connected to sata port could not use this space, so take your time to avoid damaging the cables.

    Cheers!

Got mine today, thought I might post these shots of it with the 97wh battery. It does show up correctly as a 2nd battery which is great, should more than double the battery life. I think the old 88wh slice would work too if you cut the front tabs off but the 97wh works fine for my needs - that rare pinch when I need it to keep going for a LONG time. Tonight the agenda is: move OS from 500gb to 256mSATA, add 16gb ram, and upgrade to 8.1 pro from 8.0 pro! Love the e7440!

I got my E7240 today - haven't unboxed yet :) Can anyone confirm if they got the WWAN/mSATA slot filled with a 2nd SSD (I don't think its large enough for a HDD)? If yes, which capacity/brand? I'm interested in keeping the OEM SSD only for Operating System (planning to install Linux to dual boot with Win 7) and use a 2nd SSD for documents/pictures etc.

    Thanks.

I ordered a scratch and dent unit over the weekend which was presented as having the i7-4600u; upon looking at the customer BOM for the build however, I was greeted with this line item:

    1 5PYKY Module,Information,Central Processor Unit,I7-4650,Virtualization Pro,Latitude

    EDIT: and this one

    1 R2NVM MOD,ASSY,BASE,I7-4650,TP,N-S,T

Is this just a typo or has anyone else had a similar experience (can these even be configured with that option)? Can anyone else comment on their BOM line item for the i7-4600u units? I guess I'll know in a few days, but I'm thinking a typo.

Has anyone had an issue where the touchscreen goes crazy registering touches? I have had a couple of instances where the touchscreen will register 20-30 touches a second all over the screen. I hit the machine at the bottom near the docking port and it will stop. I'm not sure if it is the power adapter I was using, or something else. It happened when I put on the battery slice from the E6430, but only once. I wonder if I have a short.
