It should be in Dell Data Protection | Access.

Dell Data Protection | Access is old and not the software to use with the E7440. It does work, but at pre-boot it hangs on "Searching for fingerprint reader."

All that was replaced with Dell Data Protection | Security Tools. The options are just not there to do pre-boot. I don't know if I need a different package or what. I just like to be able to keep my machine a bit more secure. Here are some screenshots, and there is a reference to pre-boot authentication.....but not seeing where to set it up....I have been through every screen/option!

    Hey there,

    i have a brand new E7240 with the smallest configuration possible: i5 1.9GHz, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD, 1366x768.

Now i wanted to add a second mSATA-SSD in the additional UMTS/mSATA-Slot. I tried a Crucial M500 240GB and an older ADATA 32GB SSD (which both work in my Thinkpad X220). Both are not recognized in the BIOS nor within the windows device manager. If i put them in the first slot, both work fine.

I already switched from RAID to AHCI in the BIOS, but that does not change anything. Is there anything else that i need to do so that the SSD in the second slot is accepted?

I'm hesitating between the touch or non-touch model of the E7440. How is the glare on the touch model? Is the back cover more or less scratch resistant (compared to the aluminium bezel of the non-touch edition)?

    Regards,

I like the touch screen. I only have the panel from my E6220 and E6430 for comparison, but I like the touchscreen and the color reproduction is pretty good. 100% of sRGB! Calibrated it looks really good. Plus touch is cool. :)

Dell has 250$ off outlet latitudes right now so I ordered a 7440. I got the 1080 anti-glare screen. I don't use the touchscreen much at all on my HP right now. I'm excited to have a nice screen even though I'm losing the gfx card. :\ Also excited to be rid of this stupid HP!!! :D

Anyone have the dock spacer for the E7440? Curious what the part number is. Or maybe if someone wants to sell theirs to me if they are not using a dock. Looks like the Outlet machines don't come with that spacer.

I was able to get the spacer after I got my E7440 from the outlet. The part is XJD0R according to the invoice. At first, I didn't have the part number, so I talked to tech support, who eventually found it, but only customer care could help me order it. So anyway, if you wanted to order it, it's probably best to go straight to customer care.

Thanks for the part number. We have a Premiere account with Dell, I'll put my purchasing department on it. How much did they hit you for?
