I've got two E7240's incoming, estimated delivery 11/18, with the 1080p touchscreen. I'll test the mSATA support the same way I did on our E7440. I'll also let you know my impressions of the screen. If the mSATA port works the same way as the E7440 I might just give my E7440 to an employee and get a 7240 for myself!

Thanks! I'd really appreciate all of that!
I'm torn between the e7240 and e7440 so I'd like to know how you find the resolution on such a small screen (...that's if the second msata slot works otherwise the e7440 will likely win me over!)

1080p on a 12.5in screen is TINY if you do not use larger fonts.

You literally cannot be more than 1ft from the screen with default font size.

It's great though, I like it...but its not the most practical size.

FYI, I put the mSATA SSD into the spare slot and system booted fine...so can confirm that works.

Pretty good for expanding space on the system.

What does the trackpoint on e7440 look like with cap removed?

Using the windows 8 default font size on an e7240 with the 1080p screen, I can read the screen from 4ft away without two much difficulty.

That's great! Have you also tried to install a 2.5inch SSD or a standard HDD as secondary drive?

Im getting the same thing to, on both external displays using DVI - Might try the Display port to DVI adapter see if it makes any diff.

Running Windows 8 Pro x64, docked.
