annoyed keep checking everyday for a new win7 64-bit driver for the E7440, but nothing since 09/09/13

Every two approximate hrs, my external screen (only when extended) goes into a shake then turns off.

Not too hard to get back, just flip extended screens from one to the other, but its a pain, when having to do this 3 to 4 times a working day.

    just a couple of questions:
is it compatible with the dell e-legacy adapter?
is it compatible with a docking with 2 dvi/dp outputs?

I don't know about first one because i don't have it, but for second, yes.
I have dock from E6410 with 2 dvi/dp outputs and it is compatible
You could have 2 monitor configuration (Laptop intergrated + 2 external monitors)

    hope this helps :)

Many thanks Darioosz! Which model of docking station do you have?

Is there anyone who can try if it's compatible with Dell E-Legacy Adapter?

    Got my E7440

Wireless suddenly stopped working, I have a Dell Wireless 1601 (WiGig) 802.11a/b/g/n/ad + Bluetooth 4.0 LE card.

Did factory image reset, same issue. Try installing drivers and it says "The device may not be present or could have been ejected/unplugged". Damn thing has been in my hands just 2 hours, sitting on the table.

Edit: Dell Support was able to fix it via remote assist, yay. Will post more impressions after using it at work full day tomorrow.

Question, how can I do a clean Win 7 install on this thing, and can I use the dell supplied Win7 key for it?

    Hi at all.
I'm really intrested to buy an E7440 to replace my E6400 after 4 years of hard work!

Unfortunately here in Italy the only possible configuration with the 1920x1080 display has a small "128GB full mini SDD", which I presume is an mSATA card in an interposer.
As I need at least 256GB, how can I solve the issue? Looking at the previous post I've the following ideas, but I dont know if they work fine:

1 - move the mSATA from the interposer to the dedicated mSATA slot (keep it as OS disk) and install an additional HDD or SSD in the 2.5" slot for data storage
2 - remove the 128GB mSATA (I will use it in another device) and install another 256GB or 512GB SSD (eSATA with interposer or 2.5" without) for both OS and data storage

Is there anyone who tried those solutions?
Can I make this upgrade on my own without affecting the warranty?

Not sure what would happen in that case, If you re-installed 8 it should just work without need for activation/etc - At a guess, putting 7 on wouldn't work...due to the license key being tied to 8.

I will just stick with what I have for now then, only have some minor Dell bloat, not the usual home PC stuff.

I did notice another slight thing that happens, whenever you plug in/out the A/C adapter, the screen will flicker for a second. I am assuming it is because it is switching between power profiles, was wondering if anybody had an idea to stop that?

I already checked that the refresh rate is set to 60hz in both modes.

As for the laptop otherwise, having used it for 2 days for work now, IT IS GREAT.

The keyboard is very nice, good key travel.
Screen is bright, vibrant colors (I feel at least).
Having the i7 processor with 8 GB RAM, things are quick and fast. Boot time is excellent due to SSD.
And, it's so light and tiny. A very nice business laptop IMO for those who want portability.

It's probably flicking between brightness settings set for on power and on battery..if you adjust them to be the same on both, which is in the power options control panel - i think there is a brightness slider for both settings..make them the same, and that should fix it.

its not a problem though, some people just adjust it differently between profiles...so its pretty normal behaviour.

Just a heads up - I'm experiencing the same thing. Running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I am using the docking station and am hooked up to 2 external monitors (well - plus a 3rd with a USB video card). I experience the same flicker followed by the main display simply going off. No clue on a work-around/fix yet.

    ****** UPDATE:
    - I swapped the DVI cable that kept going off for a DisplayPort cable -- and so far today (been connected for 6 hours) it has not turned off or exhibited the problem at all.
