    DIMENSIONS (WxHxD) 5.0" x 0.5" x 5.0" (128 x 12.7 x 127mm)

Yeah, I'll have to pull the dell drive when the laptop comes in and compare...

    Edit:

Quick search for what is in the systems yields this: http://www.amazon.com/Original-Internal-Panasonic-Rewriteable-Latitude/dp/B003COOQV0

Searching on that guy yields a spec site with: UJ-890 DVD drive uses Slimline SATA, the connection type for the latest generation of optical media drives. Slimline SATA is the data connection standard for 12.7mm optical drives in new generation notebooks such as Macbook and Windows laptops.

Another site lists it as: Height: 12.7mm

So yes, it *should* fit... theoretically.

The E6500/M4400 and I believe the M4500 use 9.5mm drives, so the E6510 should also use 9.5mm drives. Will double check this but that's what I have recorded when I was looking up details on the laptop.

I just got my shipping notice--estimated delivery on April 29. :)

I'm pleasantly surprised. When I ordered on April 16, the delivery date they gave me was May 7.

    Any photos to share, cybamerc?

Is this the exact same worthless touchpad and pointing stick as on the E6500? The trackpoint was the worst thing and I gave up on it. The touchpad would intermittently freeze no matter what drivers I loaded onto it. Has at least this been remedied? It drove me bonkers and ruined a good laptop.

Assuming that you are under Windows 7 64-bit, or Vista 64-bit:
    - Get the drivers for the E6410 touchpad (yes even though it's not your laptop).
    - Remove the old one, restart your computer
    - Get CCleaner (free), and perform a registery clean up.
    - Install the E6410 one, and restart once more your computer.

Now go to the touchpad control panel (Control Panel > Mouse > Click on the large touch pad icon).

From there click on "touchpad settings". You will be presented with a many options. Un-check "DragLock", and set the TouchCheck setting to the second level starting from the left (ie: almost minimum, but not minimum).

Now click on the "Pointing stick" tab, and increase 1 level before the pur max of TouchCheck.

    Enjoy!

If this does not help or work perfectly, than contact Dell as the touchpad is broken.

Looking to get this for photo editing; comparing to the T510/W510 and 8540p. Any recommendations for or against the E6510?

I don't mind that the FHD screen is not RGBLED, as I'm red-green colorblind anyway... Right now I can save quite a bundle of money by buying the E6510, roughly $400.

Hmm I'm planning to order E6510 in a few days and I was offered a nice configuration with Core i7-720QM but now I just read an article, where the i7-620M heated a new macbook pro's body to over 100'C. Any thoughts about this happening with the E6510 and should I be worried? Or just buy some tin foil and eggs. :D

    http://blog.gsmarena.com/how-to-fry...ook-pro-with-the-intel-core-i7-inside…/

EDIT: ok I investigated a bit about this macbook issue and found it to be mostly macbook-only. Still, has anyone got consernes about the new i processors and theyr heat?
