Double Ugh! Just got an email from Dell pushing my EDD back from 5/17 to 5/26. Wonder which component(s) caused the delay.

I'm feeling pretty lucky this morning considering I placed my E6510 order on the night of May 10th and currently, according to the Dell automated line, my system is in Boxing. Components for the build are listed below. I'm incredibly surprised as the Full HD display was supposed to delay the build stage 9 days, according to dell. My current estimated delivery date is June 4th.

    i5-540M
    1920x1080 Display
    Nvidia NVS 3100M
    4GB DDR3 1333MHz SD Ram
    Non-backlit keyboard
    Webcam
    250gb Hard Drive 7200RPM
    DVD Drive (no burner)
    Intel Centrino Advanced-N Wireless
    9-cell Battery

Yes, you're lucky. It could happen if someone previously ordered a system with exactly same spec as your and cancels his order during production stage.

Ended up using VMWare Player after all. The Microsoft Virtual PC tool, Disk2VHD (v 1.5) for some reason removed the option to correct the HAL layer, so even after I spent a few days jumping through hoops to get my partition size under the VPC 127GB limit, the thing was unbootable. Between VMWare Converter and VMWare Player (total price = zero), I was up and running in half a day. I've now got my old Inspiron 6400 running virtualized on the E6510 and performance is as good or better than the old laptop!

    Hi there..

Looking to buy a E6510 with i7-720QM and the FHD (1920x1080) LCD.

I noticed one user here saying their power brick was overheating...

I also noticed some other threads saying that the XPS 16 i7-720QM was under-performing with the standard 90W Power Brick.

Turns out if you speak to a Dell Salesperson you can request a 130W adapter.... I was wondering if anyone had experienced better performance or less heat with a 130W adapter?

Also - I saw one post in this thread confirm that the FHD screen is BRIGHT... Can anyone else elaborate on the brightness/quality of the FHD screen?

Well, maybe we should change the topic to "Future Owner's Lounge" ;)
My order got cancelled a few days back and now I have a new delivery date some time in June. Actually even this might be not true because the dell status page doesn't know anything about my new order id.

I would really like to see some pics otherwise this notebook is a myth. ;)
Maybe somebody ordered one with the red cover (like me)?

My nightmare came true: it says Shipped now, meaning I won't get it until Monday in the least (overnight shipping). Sigh.

Have any of you current owners purchase a second sata hard drive bay adapter for the optical drive bay?
Want to know if the fit & finish of those on ebay are worth the effort?
Yep I have a new very fresh e6510 full HD. i7-M620, 8GB, loaded with most of the good stuff.
I must say, the LCD on these are very good, right up there with my mid 09 15" MBP
