I have Windows 7 64 and Samsung SSD from Dell. CrystalDiskInfo reports the drive as supporting TRIM and running the fsutil command I can see that TRIM is enabled.

Also, I get audio over Displayport.

Thanks BadB...err :p GoodBytes for the useful explanation.
Since you mentioned Display port to HDMI adapter, forget about the price.. something like would do right ? Memory Express Computer Products Inc. - Computer Parts & Laptop Computers in Canada

And yea that is also one reason I got the Latitudes, 3yr warranty included, one question was, is it worth upgrading to their pro support warranty from the basic on site service available ?

I'm curious to know this as well. Is ProSupport really worth $109 more for 3 years? Dell said it supports questions regarding general software, which I don't really need. And I'd assume basic NBD on-site service would also provide 24/7 phone technical support as well, just like home systems. I just went with the basic one.

Yeah apparently there Basic is not 24/7.

    http://i.dell.com/images/global/products/314x314/prosupport_banner.jpg

It's $98 for a 3yr pro support that is. I don't know if you can, but general speaking, reps usually make their money off the warranty and accessories, so usually if you get the warranty they might be able to reduce the price of the laptop even more making it a more worthy purchase.

Goodbytes, one other thing I forgot to mention was, even though Dell includes a 3yr basic warranty service in their Latitude lines, it was still cheaper to configure a T510 w/ 3yr thinkplus protection w/ maintenance option then the E6510.

I actually first called Lenovo and got their best price which about $1000 cheaper than the online prices from Dell, which I believe no one should believe, always call in, exactly what I did, I live in Canada, so luckily I got somebody in Ontario (and not India like their consumer lineup), so far he brought the price down to approx. $1410, but since Lenovo's thinkplus warranty is more equal to Pro support of Dell, he said he was to talk to his Manager.

If he likes, and if this transaction does go through, I'll ask him if I can give his name and number here, he's been a pleasure to deal with, and even if he can't bring it close to Lenovo's price, he's still given me a pretty good deal already (like I said, $1000 off the web price).

quick edit: Sorry to post a Studio thing in a business laptop thread, but ^^sk how do you like ur Studio 1558, I actually ordered an identical config to urs, how's the build quality?

I actually returned my Studio 1558 and ordered Latitude E6510. My Studio's screen started flickering on day 3, and I told Dell that I'd rather go with more sturdy Latitude.

I'd say the build quality is o.k., but I feel like my inspiron 1505 actually seems more durable than studio 1558. Screen is too thin and there's some flex.

Other than that, it was a pretty nice machine with fabulous screen quality. Hope you like it.

Good to know, have you got ur e6510 yet? If yea, how do you like it, probably a much better build quality, I've been seeing posts that the Studio series have a better quality screen than the Latitudes, that doesn't mean they don't have a nice screen, I wonder how the screen quality is though. Although I like having anti-glare coating on the screens, I just hate the glossy reflection screens.

Although like I said, If this deal with Dell on the E6510 works out, for sure I'll be canceling my order of the Studio.

I thought I got a pretty nice deal with Studio 1558 (my spec below and $1039 including taxes), using coupons, EPP discount, other discounts over the phone, etc. And I also thought I got a pretty good deal for extended warranty: complete care and NBD onsite with evening and weekend phone support for 2 more years (on top of 1 year that comes by default) for $265 w/no tax. Basically it's about $1300 then.

For Latitude E6510, a few reps told me that they could not give me ANY discount once I used the 30% discount coupon. They thought they could give me 50% off for ProSupport, but even that couldn't be done. Their managers said margin was already around 0% due to the coupon. One of them told me Dell would try not to make any money during the launch stage of a new line of laptop (with coupons), so that there could be some sort of momentum in the launch. I don't really trust sales people 100%, but since they were quite robust that none of them could give me any more discount other than 30% coupon, I think it was something that couldn't be done.

So, anyways, I got i5-520m, 4GB 1333mhz ram, 250GB 7200rpm HD, 1920x1080 FHD, NVS 3100M video, Backlit keyboard, DVD ROM (not RW), 6200 Advanced-N, No Webcam, and Windows Vista 32-bit basic, 3yr NBD+complete care warranty, for $1233. There was also 5% Bing Cashback so it's eventually more like ~$1180. (10~20% cashback could've been real nice!!!) Pretty good deal I guess, compared to Studio 1558 deal, even though I gave up some features like bluetooth, webcam, DVD RW, etc. I knew I would barely use those three, so just let them go. Probably buy off ebay or newegg once I really need it later. Also, I found out I won't really need ATI 5470 video card since I RARELY play games. I mean I don't play any modern games like starcraft II, crysis, modern warfare, etc. Real modern games wouldn't run so well on 5470 anyways.

I also have MSDN subscription through school, so I will be able to get windows 7 ultimate for free. That's why I got Windows Vista basic. No need to spend ~$100 for me at Dell.

I actually like my Inspiron E1505's glossy screen. I don't know if it's kind of worn out, but it's much less reflective than what I saw on Studio 1558. Studio 1558's screen quality was awesome though, except for too much reflection. I've never used a matte screen for 15in laptop, so I'll have to see once I receive my latitude (I just ordered on 5/5, with EDD of 6/1...). I have so-so feeling about my netbook screen, but it's only 10in and probably cheap.

One more thing, I like Inspiron E1505's keyboard much much more than what came with Studio. Studio keyboard was o.k. but it felt a little cheap, and it was too mushy for me. No typing sound or whatsoever. Hope Latitude's keyboard would be more solid and firm.

Never seen it in person, but I like how Latitude looks, much better than Studio and I'm just crossing fingers to get it earlier than EDD. Graduating on the 18th and hope it will arrive home and wait for me before I fly over :)

So, with 30% discount, I think you can get a Latitude at similar or lower price. Why not get a Latitude then?

I just ordered an E6510 with the following specs. Supposed to ship early June.

    FHD 1920x1080 display
    i7-720QM
    8 GB DDR3-1333 RAM
    500 GB 7200 RPM HD
    Intel 6300 wifi
    DVD burner
    Win 7 pro 64

I plan on hooking it up to my tv with an HDMI adapter so can report back on audio, plus heat and noise and such as others have talked about, once the computer gets here.

Also I used this coupon code. It's "30%" but of the price before the discount Dell applies by default on their site. Still saved a couple hundred bucks compared to just pricing it out.

    30% Coupon Dell Latitude E6510 15.6-in Core i5 2.4GHz Laptop - LogicBUY

I wouldn't worry too much about the "expires May 12 or sooner" on there. Had been a couple other deals like this with earlier dates, that refreshed with later dates. Not guaranteed though.
