my E6400 works great, and its 2 years old already. I have my laptop on 24/7 most of time, and I dont have any issue on it except the poor speaker gives me pop noise.

The E6400s seem to be holding up extremely well. Then again we only have Intel vid E6400s

The only nag is some of the older E6400s, the power button LED atop the internal keyboard gets downright dim and hard to see on the oldest models. minor nit.

Thanks for pointing this out. Hopefully it won't be so on the one I'm buying... Then again even if it is it wouldn't really matter as it's just a light.

    joelkrause57,

dont forget that this notebook has the worst touchpad ever fitted to a laptop
it has some sensitive points arround the touchpad and when they pressed, the cursor jumps
on top of that it has lag

not many have noticed this problems because theyre not atentive, but im not the only one talking about them.

anyway dont buy a notebook at second hand
buy a new but cheaper one

today you can find anything you want

    No, it doesn't.
It works fine, and as expected. It's not those super duper fancy ones, but far better than most touchpad around. It has no lag, and no sensitivity problem.

I am very attentive, so attentive that I notice the cursor circle thinking animation (wait cursor), have a duplicated frame (Windows 7 bug, was not their in Vista).

Now, that I have to agree with this. Unless you KNOW the person you are buying from very well (family, or friend), else it's most likely a broken system, voided warranty, or something hidden.

I have the same problem, just changed my hands position when I type, so the problem is almost gone.

I'll admit the E6400 touchpad isn't the greatest in the world but it is nowhere near the worst in the world. If you can't stand the Windows default touchpad drivers install the Alps specific driver instead, it works ALOT better. My E6410 is a bit better than the E6400 but nowhere near a Synaptics touchpad. :p

    Solution, get the correct drivers.
You have a Dell not a Toshiba. LOL!

All I did is install the Lat E6400 (also try the first release of the E6410), and just tweaked a bit the touchpad option to fit my preferences. I disabled the track point on my side, as I don't use it.

Thanks for the heads up. However, I'm not going to let a maybe bad trackpad refrain me from purchasing it (already purchased :) )... After all, I'm not buying it for a trackpad. 99% of the time I use the trackpoint, and 0.5% a mouse, and the rest the touchpad.
