Search on youtube for "upgrading laptop RAM" and it should bring up many videos.

You may also want to consider a DIY HDD upgrade.

Dell provide an excellent service manual with detailed explanation on changing the parts. Here's the RAM section for the E6400.

the only issue with the DIY HDD upgrade is that it probably will not include a freefall sensor.

There are a few available from CD-W. If you check out my E6400 configuration thread you'll find some references on how to ID FFS drives.

But yes, Dell seems to be the best source for now.

someone correct me if i am wrong, but i do believe both business and ultimate (at least) ship with BOTH 64 and 32 bit iterations of vista. i KNOW that business does, and I believe MS said ultimate does as well.

You have to ask Dell for the 64bit CDs, but yes it should work.

Does anyone know if the E4200 SSD drive can be replaced with a regular SATA 7200 rpm drive?

I guess the reason I'm askign this is because I want to getsome $$$ back by re-selling the SSD by itself.

Since there exists no 7200 RPM 1.8" HDDs - No.

Knowing Dell though, you will most likely be able to change to any SATA 1.8" drive you'd like...
