I think the Latitude line should top out at 15.4" for portability's sake. ;) The D810 was pushing it.

Is there much risk buying an E-Series laptop right after it comes out? I hate being an "early adopter" - i.e. beta tester.

Unless there's some major technological change that could have reliability issues, I wouldn't worry about it.

As this is the Anticipation Thread...I apologize that this is a repeat from a question I asked yesterday and if you already answered (basically saying that matte screens are bad/out...or saying no, matte screens are good/in) just pass me by.

Here's what I'm dreaming of: a 15.4" matte screen; wSxga for a long list of reasons; the screen to be noticeably brighter than my d800. I'm hopehopehoping this new e-series will do the trick.

There's plenty of 'go' in all the high end machines for what I do...it's just my screen particularities that is causing the problem!

    1) Is it possible they are offering only wxga+ for this new super-duper business class workstation replacing the Latitude? 2) And what is your experience with led blacklight?

    Thank You very much!

As Matt said, shouldn't really be an issue as the latitude line has been around for awhile and they have the BEST support around !!! And they have had the LED screens on their XPS line for awhile now so I would say it's a "safe" bet;)

Anyone know if there would be a possibility of a video card in the 13.3 inch E-series? There is no equivalent in the current Dell lineup. The 14.1 inch D630 can be upgraded with a video card but neither the 12.1 inch XT Tablet or the D430 can be upgraded with a video card.

According to Engadget's stat sheet, the E4300 is supposed to replace the D430, which means it's unlikely there will be a video card, I'm guessing. Unless this device is significantly less expensive than a M1330, I don't see myself purchasing it without a dedicated video card.

Yea from the Engadget sheet it looks like there is no dedicated video card. But it is a trade off, small light, or heavy and powerful, if you do want it then the 1330 would be a great choice for you.
Idk I'm planning on buying the E4300, but if there is another XPS deal that pops up I might have to change my plans. I'm trying to not get my hopes up, in case its a dissapointment.

I don't think thats the new latitude, the other pic's are more convincing.

That is the 16" 16:9 one engadget reported about and is more likely to be the XPS M1640 or a prototype of it IMHO.

Interesting in this diagnostics file that there is no mention of XPS 1540 or 1740,but only M1640 and M1340.

Myself I'm more interested in what the precision M4400 will bring, which if history means anything, will be a clone of the latitude E6500......hopefully a midrange quadro like their competitors have been fitting for the last two years.....damn 1730 runs Solidworks very badly as you would expect from a non-openGL gaming rig.
