Now, I'm going by Canadian prices here (which are super expensive for Latitudes, and never EVER any discounts) and my guess is that they will cost the same for equivalent builds, with certain things possibly being standard, I'm hoping for BT.

I finally sold my other laptop, so I'm pretty much there for buying this.

Aww man, everytime I see the new E-Series, I look at my D630 and ask myself-"Why didn't I wait, sigh"

    Hmmm....there is E-Bay.....

Do they plan on releasing a 17" widescreen in the new lattitude line?

The answer is no, there are no plans. Only the Vostro comes in a 17" form.

Personally I don't understand why consumers lug around a 17" either!

Same here, I even worried about the weight of the 15 incher, thats partially why I dont like the Asus laptops.

I own a Vostro 1700 and I have a carrying bag for it so it's no biggie for me.

The Vostro 1500 is not too bad. I actually like the weight as it makes the laptop feel sturdy.

Indeed! 17" consumergrade laptops are horrible for putting in slow CPUs, integrated graphics, and ridiculously flexible and spongy keyboards that still have a nonstandard layout, even though the laptop is MORE than large enough to accomodate a full-sized standard layout keyboard.

A D630 can be configured to be more powerful than your average $1000 17" laptop. :) (And still have the same resolution... thank all the consumergrade notebook manufacturers for putting 17" glossy WXGA+ displays for that.)
