If they don't announce them soon, people will jump on other computers -- and other brands.

Or maybe the July 29th Dell announcement was simply for the new Inspirion laptop and Studio Hybrid. These are the low-cost machines that will key to the back-to-school sales rush, the new E series is more corporate, so Dell probably figures there is less reason to rush it out.

Neither of these are Centrino 2 machines, leading me to believe that today is not the day for Dell and Montevina. These new models are also configurable today, something that the E series wouldn't yet be.

if you guys look at the comment our alleged dell member made (and said was under an NDA) he did NOT say they would be released today -- just that he was invited to sit in on a webcast (Not sure if this has been mentioned already but I got an email invite from Dell today to sit in on a web cast on July 29th for the intro of the E series. Official Launch date August 12th.) about them, and release is august 12.

I have sources indicating Dell will ship in September. I can't back it up, NDA or not, because its only whispers I'm hearing online.

And no, I don't know anything about it.

Tssk, this is getting really annoying, I waited buying a new notebook because the new E series would have been released at the end of June. Another 2 months :(

Why Dell is playing the E series close to their chest I have no idea. At this point other major manufacturers have already started to release and ship Montevina-based notebooks.

i again reiterate (yes, redundantly, if i must) that the only source we have for ANY of this information dates back to the engadget leak. there have been no further leaks from dell (at least that i am aware of). it has been speculating on mere speculation that keeps us all going. the closest thing we have to a leak is someone effectively claiming to be violating his NDA. if anyone has any source information that did not originate from the engadget leak, it would be great if you shared it on this forum.
