Nice find my e6410 has this listed in the service tag

    Part Number
    2H7NC
    Quantity
    1
    Description
MODULE, LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY, 14.1WX, EDP, LIGHT EMITTING DIODE, TSN, SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT SOLUTIONS

    The e7450 has the touchscreen.
It's definitely not even close. My e6410 is the atg model so I don't know if that's different that what you found. But seriously 6 years later it should be at the least same brightness and from the pics as you can see its not even close.

There might be some truth to that but it seems unacceptable using it in my office. I haven't even looked at this outside yet.

    Thanks for your post

I'm glad you didn't get a lemon at least, it's proabably "normal" for the class of laptop that it is. It is at least comparable to other laptops like x230, mackbook air (glossy), HP envy's, etc.

It is not comparable to a macbook air. If I can remember I'll bring in my 2013 macbook air an show the brightness difference.

The macbook air is definitely brighter. Very close to my e6410 atg

OK well on paper, the numbers are comparable. Certainly not in the 700l range like the ATG models.. I did not think my 7440 was that far off of the MBA (2012) that I had through work... I attributed the difference due to my dell's matte screen (which I prefer anyway).

    MBA Mid 2013 #s:
    Maximum: 295 cd/m²
    Average: 277.3 cd/m²

    http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Apple-MacBook-Air-13-Mid-2013-MD760D-A-Subnotebook.96311.0.html

Then again, I hardly ever have brightness turned up all the way on any laptop I use regularly. So it could just be my eyes don't really care? haha. :)

I hear what your saying, again I appreciate the discussion. After looking at the 2013 MBA it is not quite as bright as my e6410 atg but it's close. I still don't think the 7450 is tolerable. I rarely have my e6410 at full brightness but the e7450 is at full brightness with the Gama jacked up to be brighter an still not enough. I want to be able to have the e7450 at 75% brightness most of the time an only turn it up when needed.

Don't get me wrong I'm being critical but I have had my e6410 for almost 6 years and intend to keep the 7450 for at least 3 years. I'll post the 3 computers side by side tomorrow an let you see for your self.

    Thanks for listening

Mac book air on left e7450 on right (all machines on full brightness)

Mac book air on left e6410 in middle an e7450 on right

This is the 2013 version of the Mac air I'm still not satisfied with the brightness of the e7450. It needs about 30% more

Hope this information helps someone. I'm sending it back

Gotcha. I see your point, the difference is pretty noticeable vs the MBA. I still blame glossy vs matte for at least some of it.

Good luck finding a laptop that fits your need...

Again I appreciate the comments, challenging the situation is good for other viewers.

The screen on my E7450 (touchscreen) is glossy an so is the one on the Mac. When you say matte screen what laptop are you referring to?
