Yeah. If you want to you can enable more descriptive battery/adapter/dock warnings using "Dell Command | Power Manager" Alert Managements

@iieeann why not get the Dell P5000 vbios from @RealJEDI and try it out?

There is an AMD Radeon Pro 4150 GPU available and that does have displayport 1.4. In that case though would buying a Dell 7510 and upgrading the GPU to the AMD 4150 give the Dell 7510 displayport 1.4 support?

I tried it with GPU-Z and get "BIOS reading not supported on this device".
What's the alternative way to extract the VBIOS?

    Cheers,
    Alex

Seems like a hassle... What is your need for DP 1.4 over DP 1.2? With a Thunderbolt dock you can get 2x 4K/60Hz displays attached, DP 1.4 is not required.

I want to run 2 5k displays and I've got some colleagues who have had issues with 2 different thunderbolt docks constantly dropping connection when doing that. Hoping displayport 1.4 could fix that. I guess I could ask the same thing about HDMI 2.0 as well. Would you need the AMD graphics card to get HDMI 2.0 support?

The seller said my P5000M is specifically for 7720 use. So it is Dell bios. Dell has locked Dell, if really want to try, need to try HP/Lenovo or other brand bios.

Yes you are right, I don't know earlier that M1200 is MXM-A card, so definitely the heatsink will be different from MXM-B.

    HI,

After one week of working with my new 7720 I do have some observations. The most annoying is that cold dock doesn't work.
In the evening I put it into sleep and in the morning I put it (while still sleeping) into the e-dock docking station and try to power it up. The docking station is connected to 2 external displays. The machine doesn't come up. Status lights are there, but all displays stay dark and the 7720 doesn't respond to anything (neither keystrokes nor power button). I have to reset and restart.
If I power it up first and do a hot dock everything is fine. On my old M6700 the cold dock always worked and I didn't have any problems with the same setup.

    Setup:
    P5000 with driver version 382.16
Optimus on (with the BIOS switch to drive all external displays by nVidia card)
Displays -> UHD Internal + UHD via DP + FHD via DVI
    BIOS: 1.6.0

    Cheers,
    Alex

I had similar problem on my 7710 long ago when connecting my sleeping laptop to E-Port dock and running external displays off dock via displayport. It is an older posting but maybe worth taking a look at it. :

I was able to narrow it to sleep/wake issue when driving displays via NVIDIA GPU and eport dock. Try toggling the BIOS switch you mentioned that outputs externals directly via nvidia card. You might also have to reinstall the NVIDIA driver (clean install the driver).
